Will we have to play up to 3-4k again, or will it reset back to how it was at the start of the game (800 was mid diamond / 1200 was high diamond). I guess it would make sense to return back to how it was in the start of the first season, otherwise everyone will have to play hundreds of games just to catch back up :S - your points + bonuspools will be deleted. - your MMR will not be deleted.

E.g if I'm a mid diamond player with a mid-diamond MMR and get reset to 0 points I will be matched against people who also have a mid-diamond MMR and 0 points so at ~50% win rates how will we go up any more than bonus pool assuming no improvement in skill? So - what if someone deliberately loses a load of games before the reset to reduce their MMR vs their actual skill - e.g to roughly low diamond MMR. Then the ladder is reset and they would win most of their first games until they were back to their old MMR level as their MMR was artificially low at the start but their points were equal with everyone else.

Only thing we can do is that not too many people will abuse the ladder system to get a lower MMR. But maybe does blizz do something to prevent it.. we'll see.

But maybe does blizz do something to prevent it.. we'll see. Basically, it's similar to how they implement it in the WoW Arena Rating System. You are 1500 rating MMR (NOT actual rating). You're rating at the beginning of the patch is 0. You queue up and play against another 1500 MMR rated player. You win. You gain +40 points. You are now 1-0. You queue again, you play against a 1550 MMR rated player (because you won your last game). You lose. You lose ONLY 5-7 points. You are now 1-1. Why?!?! Because your actual rating wants to climb up to your hidden MMR rating (but what is important to note is that you won A LOT of points for your actual rating but lose very little when you lose). You queue again, you play against a 1500 MMR rated player (because you lost your last game). You win. You win +40 points. You are now 75 rated and with 1550 MMR again. So as you win, lose, win, lose, win, lose.. you'll start winning LESS when you win and losing MORE points when you lose until you reach your 1500 actual rating = 1500 MMR. How bonus pool works is that is offsets the actual ratings 'tendency' (for lack a better term) to want to even out with the MMR. For example, let's say skill can determined by a number (for sake of the argument). And you're forever a 1500 MMR 'skilled' player. If you play an infinite number of games and you stay at exactly 50% win rate (without bonus pool) you'll stay at 1500 actual rating. However, what bonus pool does is that if you keep a 50% win rate but you play a lot of games, your rating actually goes up because it's based on a 'incentive to play' model (so instead of winning 20 points per game won and losing 20 points per game lost, you win 21 points per game won and only lose 19 points per game lost). So that's why points get inflated in the long run. Because over a period of many many many the bonus pools actually increases your rating. I hope that makes sense. I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure this is how it works.

After months of hard work and heavy "internal testing" (I mean, we are talking about chatchannels, which have to be tested very carefully) we will get them! Chat channels is not an idea they have built from the ground up. They had it in BW so its not like they don't know how to a chat channel works but form what i've seen on PTR these chat channels are unimpressive but at least we have them.
