Blizzard will likely put up a notice for server downtime regardless. Pretty sure the servers for WoW and SC2 go down at 5am Tuesday Morning PST every week. It really depends, sometimes it is 3-9 pst, sometimes 3-11, sometimes 5-9, sometimes 5-11, sometimes rolling restarts and there is no real maintenance. I think for this week WoW is only getting rolling restarts. That doesn't mean they won't patch today though, but if not today I guess a lot of people are saying thursday is another day they often patch on. Well in the old days (vanilla) I remember always having to go to bed at 2 am Tuesday mornings, because they USED to patch it at 5am EST, but they changed it to PST during WotLK. I've played wow since beta, it's always been either 3pst or 5pst as the common patching time. It used to almost always be 3.
Well 2 or 3, but it was always tuesdays

I can't imagine them patching while the GSL games are still being played. It'll be too great a change to ignore.

ZvP clearly broken atm, looking forward to see what they gonna do.

Blizzard's stance on patching has always been that it doesn't matter when a tournament is being played. They patch their game on a schedule, tournaments don't take precedence. Look at 1.1.2 the DAY before MLG.

yeah, but GSL is "official" where MLG is not, right?

What do you mean by that? AFAIK, both required permission from Blizzard.

i need this patch now......wanna start 1on1 with new hotkeys ~~

Yah i agree this patch needs to hurry they already took down the PTR so it's coming soon.

I believe the GSL is officially sponsored and endorsed by Blizzard.

Afaik GSL has the Blizzard logo in their studio's and finals stadium every time as a sponsorship and I haven't seen that from MLG. So there is probably more important for GSL than MLG for Blizzard.

I hoped it was going to be released today. I hope we won't have to wait another month for it.

Didn't stop then previously to patch in the middle of a GSL season and it wasn't just a hotfix.

Ah, that makes sense. I believe you're right in that Blizzard actually puts money into GSL and not MLG.

Everyone, keep in mind that no where does it state that it is January of 2011 - keep in mind, this is Blizzard Standard Time.

doing it during the season is different then doing it on the same day of a match or something. And if they went by GSL when seasons are over sounds like we would get 1-2 patches a year.

Good point knowing Blizzard, 1.2 is actually the patch right before HOTS.

I think that just has to do with how large their prize pool is. Blizzard doesn't allow tournaments with a prize pool (above like 50k I think) without their permission.

It's going to be really interesting to see when exactly the patch is going to come out this week. I have already read several rumors on the bnet forums that it was supposed to come out on tuesday, but it still hasn't. I kind of wonder how Blizzard is going to introduce this patch, is it going to be by the book (the patch notes that they put out last month) or are they going to have a surprised in store for us (if the patch gets delayed past this week which is a possibility, NOT saying it is going to happen, but hey it's Blizzard, they delay their stuff until its ready to be released). If i were them I would seriously take a look at this post: + Show Spoiler +http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1253375398?page=8#148 And consider delaying the patch for another week or two, so we can have chat channels similar to those, not the ones we are getting now, they are by no means bad or anything but the ones shown in that post would bring back the SC1//WC3 atmosphere, and that way it would be like old times.

This sort of speculation is so bad. Patch days scince release have been in this order.
friday thursday wednesday wednesday wednesday friday wednesday and the tools update on thursday
so tuesday sounds so wrong.
if you look at sc2 patches and stop speculating on wow patch times you'll see that the patch should be released in the last 3 day of a week with a bias towards wednesday, chill out
and btw there is like gsl all the f time, they have to patch at some point
