PvZ is my primary worry at the moment, the stupid supply depot -> barracks change notwithstanding: As it'll stand now, Zerg is able to fast expand, and now Protoss will probably need to put down more than one rather expensive cannon to hold off early aggression. As a Zerg player, somewhere deep inside I'm happy about this, but in the grand scheme of things I'm not overly happy with that matchup shift. in every single other situation, I love the non-reaper changes (again, supply before barracks notwithstanding)

I'm a little disappointed that VRs were nerfed THIS way.
The unit has probably lost its soul, since now its just a (weakened) damage dealer and not my favourite "COME ON, COME ON, CHARRGGEE!!!!" - unit anymore. Hopefully, Blizzard is going to redesign the VR.

btw: my first post; hello, community :-)

I know we're all diamond and shit and don't care about the lower leagues, but if VRs were so powerful there that they were kinda ruining the game at that level, it's perfectly reasonable to balance for that. Top level play is not the only thing that matters, unless you want no new top level players because all the newbs quit!

Does the Void Ray still beat a Queen 1v1?

It should, the main nerf is to armored. They'll do better if there wasn't anything to precharge on.

Do you think the 250mm Strike Cannons will be used even less now? Like before the only real benifit was the fact it removed energy that could be feedbacked, now it seems almost entirly useless except for the ability to stun units.

Ok wow they actually did go through with the supply depot nerf and actually went farther and nerfed bio with the medi nerf. with the supply depot nerf, we cant counter 6 pool. for some reason, lings in sc2 are waaaaay better against scv's than lings in sc1 were.

In my opinion 6pool is the weakest cheese option available in the game. Select all your SCV and attack click the zerglings and you'll beat them. you'll still be able to get a depot up (now with more health) and throw down a barracks. Maybe it makes 6pool a bit stronger if your micro is bad, but it still suffers quite a bit.

this is a dumb comment. do you even play terran? sure, in BW you could pull scv's. but in sc2 scv's are useless against lings, they dont do damage and they take alot of damage.

6 pool is really strong, even on 4 player maps. on 2 player maps its sick. if those lings get in your base, they are going to put the hurt on the scv line. if you attack them straight up with scv's, youll have maybe 3 or 4 scv's left after the fight is over and then you will be behind in econ, also by the way there is 8 more lings headed towards your base.

dumb comment i think from a non-terran player. 6 pool might be the strongest cheese option in the game.

I play zerg. I've never lost to a 6 pool rush, so maybe you're doing something wrong. All I have is drones, do you know how to micro your workers correctly to counter a 6 pool? maybe that's part of the problem. Thanks for calling my comment and opinion dumb multiple times, it really reinforces your point and makes your a respectable poster.

I understand it's different when terran gets 6pooled as they have their walloff to worry about. But I don't see it being too troublesome, especially on a 4 player map. But it sounds like you haven't been so lucky.

These changes looks really good, I can't wait to try them in game.
Obviously the game will require many other patches to become the best game possible, but Blizzard is definitely going in the right direction !

how nice how they fix all bugs except the one that affects zerg(ultra spash one)

There's not an ultra bug?

the fix for the planetary fortress splash bug accidentally nerfed ultra splash against regular units.

Hm dunno about the accidentally bit. They had that bizarre mechanic of doing splash based on the centre of the unit they're hitting, which was just exposed when they could use it against PFs. Now they do what looks like a normal splash for, well, a cleave. Pretty sure that's not a mistake..

if it wasnt a mistake it would've been included in the patch notes.

Nah you can't say that, Blizzard regularly put stealth changes in.

But i think alot of terrans will be switching race with me, so well see. might just use them to shit all over all the new zerg players haha

6 pool is gonna be fine Im pretty sure, Ive never countered it with rax before depot anyway....

Yep, I am not concern about defending cheese, I'm concern about cheesing as terran. How the hell is Terran players gonna "surprise" his opponent now?
Tourney map w/o players watch out for each other's cheese is boring.
Note: I play Terran and I never cheese, but watching people cheese and defending cheese on tourney is so much fun and exciting

What do you mean that ranged dt that you can get out faster than normal dts is amazing and it flies. Oh wait they gave it to terran...

Meant units that became useless due to overzealous developers. DT not being able to be made at temp archives makes them about as useless as reapers now that you have to research reaper speed @ factory stage.

But I agree about the banshee. Hate the cloak + gigantic dmg they do. Pick one blizz imo.

I used to think the same but I think DTs are actually kinda good now. Maybe the building should be slightly cheaper but other than that... Comsat energy is just too "expensive" now compared to in SC1, and they 1hit all workers.

It's how obvious it is that you're getting them that's the problem (and how long that fucking building takes to go up). Thank god you can hide buildings as toss somewhat well, but like u implied the cost associated with getting this cute unit vs an integral unit like colo or ht far outweighs its benefits.

Thats only a VR nerf because all the buildings got more life. The damage increase on the front end of the VR means it quickly rapes armored air units in smaller numbers. I like it.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

with the exception of the reaper build time, I was happy pre 1.1

You guys will all now have to suffer my early void ray which can kill your workers more quickly from the beginning now that you've made my templar less effective :<

I'm guessing the Void ray nerf was because at lower leagues protoss dominated every matchup, and Blizzard probably had statistics showing that it was responsible. Proxy voids was very common in all leagues, and a very successful insta-win strat.

You can suprise your opponent in any number of ways as terran vs zerg just not something that is supposed to beat a hatch first opening.

Cheese shouldn't be a viable strategy. EVER.

Yes it should, assuming viable means it can work - it shouldnt be strong enough that you can do it without any negative consequences (i.e 5 rax reaper pre-nerf), but its a healthy part of the game when implemented properly.
