Why wouldn't you start using the "correct" (if this is such a thing) now so you practice it now? | ||

1 Drone scout 2 Spawning Pool 3 First overlord 4 Hatchery Rest of the game 1-3 Army 4 Hatcheries 5-0 Queens I haven't had a need for a 4th army group yet. Even when I'm doing a combination of 4 units, they often can be grouped into 3 without much problem. I basically separate units into 3 groups: melee, ranged, air (or if no air, then I can separate further). I haven't even used Infestor yet. | ||

How do you guys set your keys? the reason why idra does that seems very apparent to me. early on, u might want to control which units come out of which hatchery, since you'd rather be building drones from ur 2nd hatch so the drones don't waste time moving over from 1st hatch to 2nd, when the 1st hatch is already sort of saturated. it's smarter to build units from ur 1st hatch i think, especially since idra is an economic player. when he gets into macro mode, it really doesnt matter where ur units come out of as it did early on. thats why he puts all hatches to 1 button. early on, i'm guessing if u have hatcheries hotkeyed individually, u can select queen and inject larvae just fine, since not much is going on. but later, i think idra prefers to hotkey queens individually so that he save the mousemovement and clicking the queen. if queens are hotkeyed instead of hatch, u already have queens selected when injecting larvae. in macro mode, produce, inject inject inject. your setup when u have a lot of bases, i think is not as efficient as conglomerating hatches to 1 hotkey, and having queens separately. remember, that when producing units, it will take much longer. if all is hotkeyed to 1, u have all larvae selected, and can even just hold down H for hydra and u will get tons of hydra in 1 second. | ||

0-6 (Hatcheries) To Inject Larvae, I would press 0 twice, bring my mouse over the Queen, press V and click on the hatchery. Rinse and repeat for other hatcheries. 1-5 (Units) 1 / Usually reserved for important units such as drone scout, mutalisks, and infestors. 2 / My bulk of the army goes here most of the time, but, sometimes I keep this group reserved only for infestors (if 1 is taken by mutalisks, or something) 3-5 / The Rest Not very efficient but I am used to it... would probably change a little like the above post to be more efficient later game. | ||

2 - other units (usually a hydra/ling army) 3 - more units 4 - units ( don't use 4 that much) 5 - all my hatches 6 - Queens (6 -> x -> shift + backspace & click for quick inject) 7 - research I use grid hotkeys, and I love them! I play random and this setup works well for me (some one just closed the thread I was going to post on & I wanted to still use this...) | ||

2-6army 0-nydus, hardly use rest. Got new keybind for 'backspace' and use that to switch betwwen bases and target queens for larvae inject. | ||

and since i've not really read much on zerg macro (been using the search, but not much came back for backspace trick) so can someone kindly tell me what the backspace trick is for zerg? i find it very difficult to keep up on my injections so any little bit helps. | ||

1-3 units 4 all Queens 5-9 Hatches 0 All Hatches works best for me. I like haven all my queens on one key for defense. I hate having all my hatches only on one key since i want to know where my units are produced. And producing workers at a saturated base kinda sucks. I Inject 554v664v774v etc. | ||

2 - mass units (ground) 3- air (harrras units) 4-5 another units (ultra, infestors, sometimes even hide lings) 6- building on upgrades 0- nydus my Queens are working manually but i got good counting time from quake :D and scouting is on 2 from start than it is replaced | ||
