I sometimes put hatch1 in 6 and hatch2 in 7, and double tap incase I need to go to that area quickly, but i rarely do this, because i just don't know where the 6 and 7 keys are like I know the others, ya know? lol. I don't need to center onto hatcheries to use queens. I just inject larva on the minimap. The queen will automatically inject larva into the hatchery closest to it, so theres no problem having them both in the same ctrl group. (unless 1 has enough mana to inject into both hatcheries and the other queen is out of mana, then the queen will try and inject into both hatcheries on its own >.>) Well, for one, people aren't use to using the minimap. For me, it kills momentum. Second, being able to build drones at one hatch while combat units at another is much better for me. If my natural needs to be saturated, I don't want drones building at the wrong hatch. Maybe that set up is better, and yes there are ways around the things I mentioned, but that's why people use it.

I actually have made the mistake you were talking about. I would sometimes have to just go to my minimap and center on my expo manually to select it and make drones when my main base was just making attack units. Having the next # up as your newest expo lets you make drones @ the expo that needs them and then use the 'all hatcheries' hot key you have to make attack units. Its so simple, I'm amazing that I didn't think of it lol.

I'm looking for some advise on my keymap. Your comments and concerns are wanted. I'm a gold level Zerg thats a casual player looking for a slight edge that might get me into platnum. I converted from first person shooters. So my fingers naturally sit on the WASD keys with my pinky on shift and my thumb on the space bar. I keymaped everything around those keys. My fingers don't have to move than one button for the most part. Seeing how I never use spacebar for the "snap to last alert" feature thats it's defaulted with. It's such a nice big button that my thumb naturaly sits on. I didn't want to waste this button as it seems to be ergonomically better for me. So I put all my hatches on 0, but I keymapped "select control group 0" to space bar. This allows me to always have my thumb on my macro. I then set all my queens on 9, but I keymapped "select control group 9" to Q. I also keymaped inject larva to W. This allows me to quickly hit Q,W and inject thru the mini map. I put the main army on 1 but I keymapped "select control group 1" to F. I put my support army on 2 but I keymapped "select control group 2" to G. This allows my main armies to be controlled with my most coordinated finger, my index finger. All the other hotkeys for building units, or building structures, and spells were keymapped around WASD. I changed almost every last one of them to keys my fingers naturally sit close too. I've practiced this setup for about 2 weeks. I really like it and I has seemed to improve my game. Any advice for me dealing with my keymap would be helpful? How crazy is my keymap? Should I start over and try a more standard keymap or keep going with this one?

4 - Queens 5 - Hatcheries 6 - Pool/Warren/Nest/Den/Spire/Pit/Etc 7 - Evo Chamber(s) The main reason I wanted to post was to talk about how I inject. A lot of people put their queens on separate hotkeys, but I didn't like that so I switched over to the backspace trick. I also didn't really liked that, so I've made my own style. It's the same idea as the backspace trick, but I have the next base key (normally backspace) on the tab key and the inject key on the r key. (TL;DR) When I need to inject, I press 4 twice to select my queens, then I spam the tab and r key while clicking. I can inject like five bases in under a second without having to reach all the way over to the backspace key.

2- Hatcheries 3- Queens Embarrassing, but I'd rather be honest .Oh and for Larvae, I bound backspace to ` and use that method. I also use ` to toggle through my hatcheries if I want to build specific units at one of them.
