[Q] Hotkeys as zerg macro

Here's how I normally set my keys 1-3 are units 4 hatch, 5 hatch, 6 hatch, and 7 hatch. Whenever I need units I hit 4 twice make some units then select my queen with my mouse and inject larva, I would do this through all of my hatchery hotkeys. I saw a recent HDH game with Idra, I believe he uses 4 and 5 hatchery but after he has his economy set up he sets all of his hatchery to 4 and his queens to 5,6. Why does he do that? I find my way to be easier to manage because with Idra's way once you get 3 or 4 expansions your queen hotkeys will be like 5,6,7,8. How do you guys set your keys?

I do 1-4 as units. 5 as my hatcheries. 6-9 as queens by hatcheries.

I like having different units in different CTRL groups so I use 4 hotkeys instead of 3. I group all my hatcheries on 5 so I can hit 5+S and build whatever units I want.

6 is for the queen by my main hatch / lair / hive where all my tech is. So I can hit 6+6 to get to the screen of my main base. From there spawn larva and upgrades at nearby bases. Same process to get to the queens on my other bases.

You can also use backspace to cycle through your bases... I think.
I am pretty sure there is a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

I set mine up as 5 main, 6-0 expansions, with queens on 4. I may change that to 5 hatches and 6-0 queens at each expansion, I just need to experiment more.

I do the backspace-shift-click spam maneuver. It's a little hard to pull off with 20 apm, but I think it'll pay off.

I like doing hatcheries on 4,5,6,etc.

I just feel it saves me alot of time by not having to use the minimap to select my hatcheries.

44,v,click,55,v,click, etc etc

I hotkeyed the thumb button my mouse to switch town centers(default backspace is to far away). It allows me to cycle threw them and spew vomin very fast. I keep all hatches on 4 and units 1-3.

I do 5 all hatcheries and 6+ each queen. That way I can get to any hatchery via the queen.

I've tried all queens on 6, but it gives me issues. my mouse is too sensitive to minimap click and 6-shift-backspace is only really good when you have 1 queen for each base and queen has energy for spawn larvae.

Also with your Queens CTRL Key'd you can see their energy without actually having to go to her. If your keeping up your macro 25 = time to spawn larva.

There really should be an indicator when selecting Hatcheries :O

Units on 1-3, queens on 4, unit producing hatcheries on 5 and droning hatcheries on 6. Sometimes later in the game when I have a large or diverse army I'll shift everything to the right by one key.

I separate the hatches based on worker saturation, so that I can just hit 5s<something> for units and rally them all, and then hit 6sd to keep droning at the bases that still need drones, without needing to move the screen.

I find that clicking the mini-map to inject is too unreliable in a tense situation (especially with crowded base), so I just click the mini-map, 4v click the hatch, and repeat for each hatch. I find I can do it just about as fast as I can do 44v click 55v click, etc. and it works better than that when I have more than one hatch in view.

1-3 Units 1 meele units 2 ranged 3 spellcasters 4 all queens 5 hatcherries use minimap to spawn larva, some people seem to oppose the spawn larva via minimap method, but as soon as you are 100% comfortable with your mouse sense and know where to click, it's the fastest way in my opinion at least, guess it's personal preferences

i do all my hatcheries as 1 and 2-5 as queens then the rest for units usually 7-0 units 6 and 7 just like ovies or overseers

I suppose I play differently, but my setup is as follows:

1 = Hatcheries
2 = Scouting unit/overlord/overseer(s)
3 = Primary army
4 = Secondary army/spellcasters
5 = Air units (if I'm doing something like flanking the enemy)

I just double tap 1 to goto my hatcheries and vomit for the majority of my macro. I guess I'm different from other Zerg players but it's guided me true through my games.

4 Queens, I do the backspace trick but rebinding it to a mouse button will be much handier

6+ Excess units, generally not used though (maybe OL scouts, etc)

I'm so used to a bunch of separate hatch hotkeys for different bases from broodwar... If I don't use separate ones for each base I lose track of where my units are coming from and I don't know how to keep track of where I need to build drones... Is there some trick using that single hotkey and being able to go to each individual hatchery similar to 44sd55sd66sd etc...
