my Queens are working manually but i got good counting time from quake :D and scouting is on 2 from start than it is replaced what fingers do you put on what keys when you make zerglings, drones, or hydras. I used to use 1 for hatcheries, but I found the hand position very annoying for these three units.

Early Game: 1- Hatch (grid hotkeys, larvae/drone is Q) 2- Scouting Overlord 2- Spawning pool
Rest of Game: 1- Hatches in main 2-3: Expo hatches 4- Queens 5-0 units or whatever
|
I currently use grid hotkeys, mainly so my hatches can be 1 - 3, all expos after 3 hatches become 3, i just like for my main / natural to know where my units will be coming from if I press 1Q and then spawn a bunch of units, i know they will be coming from where i want. I put all queens on 1 (with my hatch) and 4, so i can press 1-tab-shift+x and then click the mini map to inject lavae,
the reason i like this set up, is i frequently need more control groups with zerg, so having my hatches as 4 - 6 etc is limiting me to only 3 control groups of units, also, as T is attack move, 4 - 6 as units fits nicely, the only problem is W is spawn queen and overlord, and i am constantly upgrading overlord movement speed while trying to spam spawn roach
i would like to start putting every overlord i make on 0, and all my drones from my main mining bases to 8 - 9, so if i need to make creep highways it is easier, or just need to pull all my overlords back to safety if they are being harrassed / turn on spawn creep for all of them when my lair pops, and the drones all hotkeyed so when i need to spam building production i can just press 9-z-shift+DDDDDD to make a few spores if urgent. or just to run my drones away if mineral line is being harrassed.
took me about a week to get used to grid, one of the great things about it, is that you dont have to put your mouse over anything to learn its hotkey, because it is always in the grid system, so you pick up the hotkeys for even the obscure buttons really quickly. I used to use hotkeys for most things, but like flyer upgrades or something, i would just click the button, but with grid, i instantly just learned the hotkey, cause its the top right square so automatically q etc..

Yah I do hatchs 4 to 8 special unit thing on 9 (like queen spreading creep) and all hatchs on 0 and units 1 to 3

This is my exact setup, except that I use 7 for tech (evo chambers usually) and 8 for nydus. That way i just hit 8, d

1 hatcheries 2 queens 3-6 army 7 nydus 8 pool/warren/den/etc 9 maindrones 0 natdrones F5 main F6 nat F7 r-point
I have big monkey hands btw and i use larva inj. through the minimap
Pretty crazy that that is my exact same setup(it isn't really that common from what I've seen). I also use larva inject through the mini map only change is I usually have F7 as my 3rd not rally.
I actually have small hands and find it easier to hit F5/6/7 to find hatches than 6-8 which I miss often. I also find that doing 3-5 as my army allows me to put my pinky comfortably on "A" and then my next 3 fingers on 3/4/5 thumb on space bar.

How exactly do you guys reach the 0 9 8 7 keys??
I keep my thumb by the space bar, and use my fingers to hit keys (a, s, and hot keys (i use 1,2,3,4,5,6)
And I feel like its incredibly inconvenient to reach the 0987 keys...I have enough trouble as it is accidentally pressing 6 when I meant to hit 5, the higher numbers would just kill me.
How do you guys do it?

position your thumb on right ctrl, you can reach 7 to 0 easily

2-4 are units 5-8 are queens 1 is all hatcheries and I keep rehotkeying that every time I make a new hatchery

How do you guys do it? position your thumb on right ctrl, you can reach 7 to 0 easily Doesn't work for koreans keyboard but yeah. After ctrl it's just a matter of use. Try repeating 7v 8v 9v 0v and you'll miss way less often

I have : 1-3 as units 4 all queens (i use minimap for inject larva) 5 all hatch 6-9 for some buildings 0 for overseer(s)

I do this too, but do you mean 7s 8s 9s 0s?
Anyway, my hotkeys are
early game: 1 - scouting larva/egg/drone 2 - scouting larva/egg/drone 3 - second overlord 4 - first overlord 5 - main hatch 6 - nat hatch/drone that will become nat hatch
midgame/lategame: 1/2/3 - army 4 - scouting overseer 5 - all hatches in main area 6 - all hatches in nat area 7 - all hatches in 3rd area 8 - all hatches in 4th area etc.
BW style. I then use double-tap 5, 6, and 7 kind of like location keys.

i use 1-3 army , 4 - all hatches. 5- all queens
|
1 - 2 army 3 quuens 4 all hatches 6-9 if i need some more i use theese
|
1 Units 2 Units 3Units 4 All queens (use minimap to injectlarja and have one queen specified for creep spread) 5 All hatchhes 6 Scouts or any random sneaky buisness. 7 Mutas If im harrasing
|
1- army 1 2- army 2 3- main queens 4- nat queens 5- 3rd other base queens. maybe creep queen 6- all hatcheries 7- overseer for scouting + changeling swapped 8- queen, or buildings that need to be watched for upgrades (spawning pool + speed, etc) 9- evo chambers 0- not much use
I have decent control over army, I can quickly maneuver my queens efficiently, and they are all sectioned off to my bases so one doesn't go where I don't want it too. 1 keybind for all hatcheries is pretty decent. 1 button to spawn all units is useful. Plus 6 + S + D is very easy to hit for me. 7 is a useful keybind, esp for scouting. Not to far away, and it reminds me to use it. Others are just meh keys.
|
1-the whole army 2- my air units (if i have any) or spellcasters 3-spellcasters 4-hatchery 5-expansion 6-expansion 7-queen at the main base with all the tech 8-evo chamber
|
1. units 2. units 3. units 4. upgrade buidlings 5. hatchery 6. queen 7. queen 8. queen 9. queen 10. nydus
|
I use 1-3= units, 4= queens, 5=hatcheries I don't see why you guys have each hatchery in a ctrl group? I sometimes put hatch1 in 6 and hatch2 in 7, and double tap incase I need to go to that area quickly, but i rarely do this, because i just don't know where the 6 and 7 keys are like I know the others, ya know? lol.
I don't need to center onto hatcheries to use queens. I just inject larva on the minimap. The queen will automatically inject larva into the hatchery closest to it, so theres no problem having them both in the same ctrl group. (unless 1 has enough mana to inject into both hatcheries and the other queen is out of mana, then the queen will try and inject into both hatcheries on its own >.>)
