Current weight: 99 kg (218 lbs) Goal Weight: Doesn't care kg (:D) Starting Date: Jan 2, 2009 Goal Date: June 29, 2009 My main goal is to lower my BF% from 18-19% to 11-13%. If I gain weight its ok, if I lose weight itd be better. I stopped going to the gym for three weeks, and went back on Jan 2, 2009. Lucky me, I got the flu yesterday. Despite being sick I did lift weights (chest, and biceps), and did very small amount of cardio (400 jumps on the jump rope, biked 3-5 miles, and did eplitasdkasidjasdjcals). My sore throat was roughing me up. Today, I did shoulders and triceps. No cardio because I was feeling sick like a dog. Tomorrow is my break day, and hopefully if I feel better I'll do back, forearms, and abs. I'll finish my routine with working out every leg muscle as I can. My cardio will be: Jump Rope, Sprinting (or jogging) 5-6 times a week. At max last year I lost 65 lbs, and then I dropped it down to 58. I'm sure I was at 25+ BF% when I was weighing 276 lbs. + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() edit: I play tackle football fridays, basketball sat, and flag football sunday.

Age: 18 Height: 6'0'' Weight now: 260 lbs (yes, I'm a total fatass ![]() Goal: 200 lbs Start date: January 3rd (today) End date: July 3rd (roughly under 10 lbs a month, I think this is reasonable, but I'm not an expert at this) I actually used to be 290 at the beginning of last year, and managed to lose 30 lbs by going out for a run every so often and not eating fast food. Although I could've been at my goal by now if I had the motivation to actually exercise every day =/

I'm pretty sure the best land on their entire foot area? assuming you mean midfoot? actually there's only one empirical study i'm aware of on the subject, but its data is pretty clear (you can find reference to it in the link below, ctrl+f for 'hasegawa' ) if you feel like reading extra info, feel free to skim over this. it's more of a side-discussion to the main topic which is these so-called running 'techniques' Pose and Chi, but it provides a decent overview of foot strike in general. it's pretty long though =/ off to sleep! Interesting that this discussion has come up, I've been running regularly for the past three weeks and I've noticed I start off heel first, then about 1/4 into the run I'm forefoot and at the end when I'm tiring out I'll tend to be midfoot. Admittedly I'm running along bush trail for 95% of the run and it has lots of stair-like sections so I think that explains why the middle-near end of the run is forefoot. I guess I was just wondering what is better. As for my stats and goals: Age: 21. Height: 6'1" Current Weight: 91.5kg Goal Weight: 85kg Starting Date: 16th December (I started at 95.5 - 96kg) Goal Date: 8th February (Holiday) I also have a secondary goal. There's a bush trail that goes directly past my house that I've been running every day (I caved over the nye period and skipped 3 days, but as of yesterday/today I'm back ![]() 'better' in terms of footstrike isn't well-defined, and any opinion does not have empirical science (as far as i know) backing it up. there was a study done at UCT for Pose running (forcing mid/fore landing as opposed to heel; this is a gross oversimplification of the technique but whatever), and the results were reduced load on the knees, reduced vertical oscillation and increased load on the ankle (this last one you won't find on their website (posetech.com), you will have to read the study. Although you'll find "REDUCE LOAD ON THE KNEE" in big red letters on the front page. What can i say, it's marketing) basically drastically altering the way you run will probably be counter-productive and induce injury 'cause your body isn't used to it. just keep it natural. as for the trail, you've made huge progress, congrats! as you're building up the distance (well it's a little moot now since you can cover 80% of it but can still help), try introducing a walkbreak, maybe every 1 km. Length of a minute or so, or however long is necessary so that you can walk-run the entire trail. once you find how long of a walk break you need, start gradually reducing it. it should be more effective than running the first 80% and walking the rest. oh and take a day off too! running every day is great, but your legs/body need to recover as well. rest is pretty important. you could always do something else if you're bored on your day off (a la elliptical, strength training etc.)

THATS RIGHT GUYS. btw some tips. Dont listen to music when working out. I know it helps pass the time but on the news it said not too, because your body is being distracted from burning the fat. I thought about build orders instead when I was excercising. I dont think its wrong to "play" the music in your head ![]()

Building your ab muscles don't take much, just do crunches and leg raises, plank (pushup in the up position and just hold it ![]() But yeah, that doesn't matter anyway, everyone has abs if they do any sort of physical activity. Just get your body fat % down to like 11-13% and you'll see them.

Hmm, you'd be burning more energy than that if you slept for those two days dude. http://www.shapeup.org/interactive/rmr1.php Above site isn't really accurate since it doesn't take into account muscle mass, but I have something like a 2000calorie a day consumption if I sat there and did absolutely nothing, just to fuel my muscles. 1500calorie a day diet for weight loss would destroy me. You don't want to lower your metabolism. You'll start to lose muscle mass if you do that.

so i put in all that info and i said i want to lose 2 pds/week and they said i need to consume at most 1309 calories a day. and i thought that the thing was to EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE? Your resting metabolic rate is 1687 Calories per day. To learn more about the importance of this number for weight loss, go to Step 7 of Shape Up & Drop 10™. Understanding the importance of this number can help you master the next ten pounds.
