don't forget bringing in mancini - mark hughes was a dead man walking once the takeover happened, just like ranieri with chelsea.

Aston Villa just sacked Dean Smith. And Norwich sacked Farke.
It's a bloodbath in the prem, 5 managers gone already!

Football can be pretty brutal, feel for Dean Smith especially given the fine job he did prior to this season and him being a Villa fan himself.

Dean Smith and Farke sacking are stupid imo

Can't believe relegation contenders Arsenal are three points ahead of title contenders United

One funny tidbit is that Arsenal and Tottenham have yet to have the same result in any round. I noticed it early on with Tottenham going WWWLLL and Arsenal going LLLWWW, but they've kept it going for a full 11 rounds. (This wouldn't be that statistically unlikely if it was say, the first and last placed teams, but as it is, Arsenal and Tottenham have 11 wins divided between them.
And for the past 8 rounds, Arsenal is #1 in the league.

They get a good test after international break vs Liverpool. I can't see them doing much there though because after that loss to West Ham, Klopp will be getting them really fired up for 3 points there.

Reading that Kjetil Knutsen is one of two favorites for the Norwich job - either him, or Lampard. Knutsen's only experience as head coach of a 'competitive' team is Bodø-Glimt - he was their assistant in 2017 (they achieved promotion from the second division), then in 2018 he took the head coach role, they were assumed to be doomed but safely avoided relegation. 2019 they got second place, 2020 they won the league with 26-3-1 W-L-D and 103 goals scored, then before 2021 most of their best players were poached, but they're still en route to win the league again and have, as I've mentioned, been amazing in Europe.
Guy is brilliant, no question about it. I think he's a great choice for an underdog team, too. But if they go with him, they need to assume that relegation is gonna happen, and give him the job with a 3+ year perspective. He's a 'total football' type of manager who seems to make new players fit into his system with ease. It's important to note that the success he had with Bodø-Glimt was not backed by big budgets and buying star players - he used a combination of local talent (granted, a golden generation) coupled with players that were failures at their previous clubs. The three players that were sold to other clubs who had created 95 goals+assists in 71 matches, have for their new clubs, contributed with 17 goals+assists in 41 matches.
I do hope they go with Lampard instead, so Rosenborg can get Knutsen.

I think its because this is the "best" type of club he wants to try with in the premier league. Expectations are mid table into growing to try to get into Europe. The managing director is Purslow who was there at Liverpool when he was a player, Villa have money too and the squad is pretty good.
If he waits until the summer then these jobs are filled and he wouldn't have the opportunities like this.

It's official for Gerrard to Villa. No contract length announced but several places including Sky are reporting 3.5 years.
Aston Villa Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Gerrard as our new Head Coach. Gerrard guided Glasgow Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title last season, finishing the campaign undefeated in the league.
CEO Christian Purslow said: “The Board of Aston Villa are delighted to appoint Steven as our new Head Coach. It has been very clear in our discussions with him that Steven’s coaching ambitions, philosophy and values entirely match those of Aston Villa. We are excited he has agreed to lead us in the next phase of our ambitious plans as we look to build on the progress made since Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens took over the club in 2018.”
