I'm a Bruins fan and I must say Marchand is a piece of shit. I like him because he's on my team, but if he was on any other team I'd hate him. I did enjoy him upending Sedin though, I've had plenty of laughs about that kind of douchiness. He'd never do what Cooke did to Savard, so I don't put him in discussions with that kind of a player. He wants to make dirty plays but he doesn't want to end anyone's career. I can't say the same about a few others in the league.

He's in his prime and is a solid D-man, but the injuries the last couple years make me a bit apprehensive about the length of the deal.
pre-injury Staal (his problems really started when his brother concussed him btw) would have been worth that. Now he's really just kind of an above average dman. He plays very tenatively now. His strength is his mobility and that he is generally pretty good in his own end. But since his injuries, he has started to play very tenatively. He got exposed hard in the playoffs last year, but at the same time, he does draw the top line quite a lot.
imo, as good as he may be at times in his own end, it's hard to swallow that kind of contract for a player who will struggle to crack 20 pts now, and probably won't be a positive possession guy because of his deployment and the fact that he's just not that good of a passer or on offense.

Sure he's a shit disturber but compared to the other players like him he's a lot better. Way way bigger assholes are cooke, burrows, avery, downie and so on.
He literally just got suspended for a very dangerous slew foot on Brassard, which is why he's being discussed. He has a history of slew footing. He's a dirty, whining, diving piece of shit. What's Burrows ever done that's as bad as Marchand? He's never even been suspended in the NHL. Marchand's played half the NHL games of Burrows and has already been suspended 3 times.
Fuck Marchand.
Very dangerous is a over statement. And I never said he shouldn't be suspended, I said he's not a bottom of barrel douchebag. He's a better then average one.
Burrows bit Bergeron is the first thing that comes to mind and talk about one of the lowest and pussiest thing you can pull. All the diving and whining comes to mind next.
Once again, the only thing that anyone can bring up about Burrows is him biting Bergeron's gloved finger after he stuck it in his mouth. Wow, that's a real dangerous play there. Marchand is one of the biggest divers in the league; you can find numerous compilations of Marchand diving. Where are all the ones of Burrows?
Marchand slew foots, hits low, elbows people in the head, whines and dives more than Burrows. Being extremely biased is the only way you can say that Burrows is worse.
So, uh, good to see the Leafs come to the defense of their captain after he was shot at for the second time in a week? And how about that Stall deathstare afterwards.

Its not like he was lightning up the minors, hes a good goalie who no one had any tape on and now they do. Still, Calgary should be pretty pleased. Monahan is developing into a little beast.
Since trading away Perron, Edmonton has found offence. They still are sub 500 since the trade (it is the Oilers after all) but they don't look like an AHL rookie team playing against NHL all stars. They compete, they seem to be trying harder. There games have gotten ALOT better
the sharks are pretty much made to disappoint and it sucks because jumbo is so damn good, even as an old fart. I wish he'd win the cup before he leaves and spends his day trying to figure out how to turn it into a giant bong

Not sure it's fair to blame Perron. I think it's more to do with Nelson being an effective coach and the addition of an NHL center in Roy. Todd Nelson was great in Oklahoma and players coming up from the AHL consistently came in strong and got worse and worse the longer they stayed with the Oilers. The team's lack of scoring (seen throughout the lineup) is directly related to their impotence on the power-play. Once they get that figured out, they should earn a few more wins.
It all leaves me a bit conflicted. It's been obvious to most who have watched the team consistently that they are not as bad as their record would indicate. Especially when compared to previous Oiler teams which landed 30th in the league and would have easily been 40th had there been more teams in the NHL. Much of me had hoped that luck would work against the team, they would maintain several roster holes which would anchor them down, and then luck into McDavid, fill the holes, and be a good team going forward. Either way, it's nice to watch some wins.
But speaking of the Oilers, they are primed to lose Petry. It is so Oilers to spend time developing a young defensemen, have him emerge as your strongest option on a very weak defense, and then lose him as he enters his prime years. They have showed an apathy towards the player and no interest in re-signing him. Because Oilers. Petry will make a great Redwing.
