Todd Nelson was great in Oklahoma and players coming up from the AHL consistently came in strong and got worse and worse the longer they stayed with the Oilers. It all leaves me a bit conflicted. It's been obvious to most who have watched the team consistently that they are not as bad as their record would indicate. Especially when compared to previous Oiler teams which landed 30th in the league and would have easily been 40th had there been more teams in the NHL. Much of me had hoped that luck would work against the team, they would maintain several roster holes which would anchor them down, and then luck into McDavid, fill the holes, and be a good team going forward. Either way, it's nice to watch some wins.

But speaking of the Oilers, they are primed to lose Petry. It is so Oilers to spend time developing a young defensemen, have him emerge as your strongest option on a very weak defense, and then lose him as he enters his prime years. They have showed an apathy towards the player and no interest in re-signing him. Because Oilers. Petry will make a great Redwing.

Now a days its to grow the game to the younger generation, you know the kids under 10 or so. Everyone who watches the league regularly knows the game is a joke, but for an 8 yearold? Thats like a friggen dream come true, Crosby on a line with Ovechkin and Stamkos.
