This stings a log, especially after all the "I want to be a Raider for life" talk in January. Gotta build a foundation before we can start attracting real talent though. Going back to our early 2000's ways of being the NFL's retirement home might help start though.
Also RIP Ralph Wilson. So glad he kept the Bills in Buffalo. I have several great memories of spending the afternoon at The Ralph. I really hope his family finds a way to keep them there. Hopefully Jim Kelly gets healthy soon and can take over.

Sucks for the Raiders, but really not surprising. You can't have that kind of shit performance and management if you want to retain talent

Jared Allen to da Bears.. woah! Peppers and Allen.. sick DE lineup. Bit sad he didn't come to SEA but the current roster seems to thrive on young physical specimens as opposed to veteran legends.
Loving that some of these teams seem to really be making a push for success in 2014. Bears doing a lot of signing, Patriots, Broncos all making big moves.. should be a really exciting year.

Yeah Peppers was an albatross... that line would have been sick three years ago but not in today's world.

wooooooooops yeah my bad.. peppers-> packers
Bears did get Bennet though.. interestingly enough I can tell you having watched him all season he is GOOD but not double digit + sack good so they money they gave him is interesting.

Do you mean Michael Bennett? Because your team re-signed him.
Did you just wake up from a month long slumber or something?

I laughed harder at this than I should have. You doing OK Geoff?

I didn't mean for that to come across as cruel and I apologize if it did. The Seahawks even got Bennett for a deal!

apparently the Browns and the Bears were the only teams not at Johnny Manziel's pro-day. The Bears I get, but the Browns? does this mean they're leaning toward a different QB at the top of the draftpick 4? or perhaps they are going to take someone like Sammy Watkins early, and take a QB later, like Aaron Murray or Derek Carr? QB is supposed to be deep this year, so maybe picking a more "talented" position player in the top 5, and addressing their need for a QB later on is the plan...

Sammy Watkins to the Browns, do want.

Is anyone surprised that the Browns wouldn't be doing something logical?

Clearly we still believe in Hoyer the Destroyer.

I really think the plan has to be to pair up Watkins and Gordon. Considering the insane production Gordon had last year, and how Watkins is projected to be a star receiver, they may just be trying to do a reverse of Indianapolis, where instead of a superstar QB making the receivers into world beaters, the receivers make the QB look good. They definitely will take a QB in the second or third round if they do that though. Putting all your eggs into the Brian Hoyer basket is a big all-in. Especially for a guy that has started all of four games in the NFL...

Yeah, the Hoyer basket is largely unproven and apparently fragile. Although the idea of Watkins and Gordon sounds pretty great on paper.

Hoyer played decent last year and showed some potential, but his numbers really weren't that great. Although with no running game to speak of, no real experience, he did quite admirably, and won all three of his starts.
For what it's worth, bleacher report has the Browns taking Watkins at 4, and Aaron Murray in the third round. Food for thought...

Remember the Browns have another pick in the 20s so if either Manziel/Carr fall down to there they can grab one of the two there.

The Browns probably realize that there is no amazing QB prospect in this draft, and are planning to try the Russel Wilson route of having a mediocre QB that looks good because his team is outstanding and he makes $4/game.
Plus, nothing is worse than drafting a decent Geno-Smith-y QB because they make your team mediocre, which is no longer advantageous in the new draft if a strong QB is projected to come out in a future draft class.
