Unfortunately, often enough the ref gets calls wrongs, but as he's almost never gonna reverse a call, we might just issue a yellow card to any player starting to argue, as it's essentially timewasting. We need to raise players to respect refs from their first game on. Obviously helping to improve ref performances in general would also help and making sure refs would face some kind of off-field consequences if they make mistakes (FIFA doesn't seem to like this however), but I believe the ref should be seen as "untouchable" even if he's blatantly wrong.
As long as referees themselves dont say they have too much power or start admitting when they had been wrong I dont see why I should pity them. Most referess are power hungry individuals who love to abuse their power. If they can't stand to their decisions they should stop being one.
Of course players shouldnt be able to kill a referee...

It should start even deeper than UEFA/FIFA, with the FAs of each nation. They need to review footage and fine players who argue with officials too much, players who dive, players who make really poor tackles , etc. Guarantee you players would think twice about doing stupid shit if they knew they'd be fined a week's wages (or even a smaller amount, like a couple thousand pounds/euros).
There is nothing wrong with a few exchange of words, but persistent arguing and especially arguing when you know you are wrong is just pathetic. I was a big mouth in youth teams, but I quickly learned to shut my mouth because every card was costing me 15 euro's. Nobody likes a zombie, but a bit of self control isn't much to ask.
edit: And teammates shouldn't be arguing along with you, but telling you to shut up. That's what my teammates did with me.

This reminds me of an interview Platini did. He explained how, when he was 18, he met two styles of referee. One of them will let him complain, and sometimes answer back, while the other one gave him a yellow card immediately after Platini started discussing. Whenever he played and the second referee was on the field, he would stay quiet. I think both players and referees need to work on that, I especially hate when referees run in front of players, or give yellow cards in a more agressive way than necessary. The captain should be the only one able to discuss with the referee in the team, I will really appreciate some kind of rule to prevent players overreaction. Verratti might be a desperate case tho

lol, Merseyside Derby, someone in the Everton section lights off a smoke bomb/flare and the wind blows the smoke right back in their faces xD

Exactly. 15 euros doesn't seem like much, but anyone would rather have the money than not have it. And after a few times you're suddenly out 60 euros, and really regret what you did.

What a weird call. Felt that Everton should have got a goal there.

We were discussing arguing with refs and we just got a good example of what should be warranted. Everton should have got a goal.

That derby was lame. How do you only have three yellow cards in a derby?
And yeah, Everton really got cheated there. There was no foul on that goal.

Nvm.. Just saw the starting lineup...

Hope the teen sees justice and goes to jail. That Belhanda bribery is so obvious and disgraceful as well.
Yellow cards are almost exactly like technical fouls, it's just they give them more harshly and immediately for arguing in basketball. Though there's no on-field immediate punishment. Maybe if it was like you got put in the "penalty box" like hockey for 2-5 minutes for any yellow card, there would also be less tactical fouling which would be a definite positive in my eyes.

Haha, well if playing champions league or not could affect player signings in Football manager I would definitely do the same thing. It probably crossed Fergie's mind.
Still it's tough to tell a team to go out and lose. Sometimes even b-squads end up performing well enough for a victory.
EDIT: Well Chelsea deserved that!

Yeah amazing composure to not shoot there and great vision from Oscar. Also great tackle to win the ball from Ramires.
