That doesn't really answer the question of why it's different than the other qualifier. Was it explained to the players why the rules were suddenly changed in the middle of the qualifier series?
Edit: By the way, rules exist to resolve confusion. The rules were there beforehand. You guys got confused. The solution is not to change the rules to cover your confused asses, but to stick to the rules.
They didn't "change" the rule. They had an incorrect information on their website. Big difference.
If they changed it to Bo3, that would be changing the rule to cover their ass.
As far as I'm concerned, the written rules are the rules. Doesn't matter if that's not what they meant to put on there; players can't read minds. Doesn't matter what an admin says; the admin doesn't talk to every player. However, the information written on the website is available to everyone. If I were a player and I wanted to know the rules that's where I would go. So if they fucked up that information and it wasn't what they intended then, tough shit, they should stick with those written rules and "fix" it next time with a proper announcement.
You didn't know the rule then, tough shit, doesn't mean it gets changed for you.
I did know the rule. The rule written down was that all games are Bo3.
Apparently not.
So your telling me the Korean qualifier finals should ALL be best of 5? Yet the American/EU qualifiers should not? And it was "wrote down on the website wrong"
I'm not, ESL admins are.
What I'm saying is that putting the incorrect information on the website was pretty big screw-up, but changing the rule isn't part of the said screw-up.

imo it's like writing on the page that you get 100$ prize money and then it turns out the info on the page was just wrong and it actually is 1$ - but it's all okay because the players got "told before the match"
No reason to stir up shit now, TLO wouldn't take one of the 2 Korea spots anyway in the end. This is still a good result for him.
ESL really needs to have the same rules for all their regional qualifiers though. I already thought it was strange how the Americans had to play the full bracket every stage to determine who can choose his opponent next round, whereas in Europe it wasn't that way.
ESL truly have failed by not updating their rules beforehand.
But aren't we a bit responsible of this fiasco too ? I mean, it seemed to be very clear to everybody involved it was a Bo5 match until some external people started to make a fuss about a leagueinfo (in english, not sure all the koreans involved did read any of them anyway) and bugged the players. Would those external have stayed quiet at least until the end (to attack once the match over and not in the middle), would not have TLO won this Bo5 by being mentally not affected by this controversy ?

this external person was me. I did it being 100% sure that the rule is Best of Three and that the caster and players simply had it wrong. The caster also said that both are already qualified and some other wrong stuff so it wasn't very likely that it was actually best of five - considering the official rules stated "all matches are best of three" and after looking up the first qualifier which ended in a 2-1.
I simply wanted to avoid a situation where Dario had won the Bo3 but loses the Bo5 and then would have been either robbed of a legitimate win or having to protest afterwards which would look like he is a bad loser.
