Volty feels this opens up new opportunities for premeditated gameplay (like stacking a monster Lux shield on your team as you engage), while making aggressive counterplay more rewarding since hitting a Lux shield with the projectile still airborne can feel like an exercise in futility. http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=37320249#37320249

You just have to live with it if you keep wanting to play this game.
Obviously you cannot point fingers at anyone, but the reason there's so many changes all the time, is because RIOT is trying to satisfy everyone, including the casual players. It's always been the issue with many games. Back in Vanilla in WoW, you had to be a super super tryhard who had the ability to play every day for several hours, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see any raid content. I believe i read that less than 1% of the entire playerbase got to see level 60 Naxx. When the casual base became big enough at the release of TBC, it became gradually easier for the average casual gamer to play the game to its fullest. It's somewhat similar in LoL except it has always been a very casual game, which only within 1-2 years became competitive, while still using their same way of marketing and design of their game. Surely they've gotten better, however since they keep releasing champions and making nerfs/reworks/buff to keep giving casuals something new, they destroy the game competitively because they make very drastic changes every month. i don't see how the game is being destroyed in any way the changes are usually quite minor which shows how close everything really is and FoTM affects everything a lot more than the nerfs. (look what happened to renekton, with I don't remember any changes) My point was that almost every change is targetted towards what's fun and what's not fun. Trundle wasn't played enough, he wasn't fun to play (or appealing), so they re-worked him, hoping that more people will play him. Sure it might mean that he will be picked up by pro players and used competetively, but every change for RIOT is a way of changing the game so it's fun for everyone EDIT: And what i mean with destroyed is that compare it to any other sports. Imagine them changing up the rules every month. Better just stick to one set of concepts instead of changing them all the time.
trundle was fine, they reworked for the lore thing they were going for he barely got changed and people are just hopping on the bandwagon, I was playing him before with good success.
sports is based on the premise of X humans vs X humans so all sports are mirror matchups so they don't need balancing.
chess was too but they still changed a few rules (pawn double move+enpassant, castling the most modern ones) because the game wasnt fun enough
Pros only play a select few champs because they need to skill their skill level up to snuff with each one so everytime you make one champion popular another champ becomes unpopular, so at the top level as long as its balanced people will pick up new heroes only if they like them because they are fun. "Favourite champion" means a lot. Froggen anivia, doublelift vayne wickd irelia etc. People stick to the FoTM when playing new champs because nobody wants to go test a champ until they already really like it or someone else has shown it to be good.

I always thought it would make more sense if Lux's shield worked that way. Will be fun to play around with that

Formula 1 has a lot of rules (about cars, races, tires, oil, drivers shoes, etc...) that can change every season. A significant part of those changes are direct attempts at 'changing the meta' as in making the sport more fun to watch or forcing additionnal decision making from teams when current optimal play was known. That doesn't necessarily destroy anything (I even prefer it to any ball game out there).

It will make it way easier to get the 6-7 applications you'll need in a teamfight to make it as cost efficient as other shields, that's for sure.
You'll actually be able to cast it before the fight starts now, and hitting people with the very end of the thing won't be dumb anymore.

One scary thing is that you can cast it a few seconds before the fight starts, and then cast it again just as the fight breaks out. With max CDR and max rank E, there time window between shield fading and E being ready is really short.

Shyvanna's new E is going to be % HP damage and no one is going to be surprised, hehehe.

"Cinders" will do %HP damage, shred armor, and have a decaying slow on it *nods*

Galio, Lux and Annie are pretty decent off-the-beat supports for when you're bored of regular supports.
