I feel like spells that can isolate one person so that your team can quickly burst them down are most important as invades typically aren't full 5v5 fights but 4 trying to run from 5 (invaders). If you can catch them despite flashes, you can get those early kill/kills.
i main lux and lemme just say that her level 1 spells are so low damage that she is not very good in an invade

Stealth is a ability that many champions have, and the addition of a "conditional stealth" for Eve just makes it feel as if Riot was like "fuck it, i'm too lazy to do an elegant balance on stealth mechanics over all, so we'll just make Eve's conditional". It feels like a really lazy decision on Riot's part. Uh what? Long-term stealth is really hard to pull off in a balanced way. Conditional stealth has interesting counter-play involved. Dodging through wards is already pretty powerful. If you have a good idea then you're free to theorycraft. Re Valve: While they are a nice company, I am still somewhat suspicious of them. The fact you need Steam to play any games you get from them and are reliant on Steam working really suggests to me the creation of a stranglehold on the digital distribution of games. While they're a nice company, I do wonder what would happen if there ever was a management change and decided to utilise all that consumer goodwill they've banked up. Don't get me wrong, I think they did a good job balancing out the long term stealth, it just didn't seem like a very elegant solution, that's all.

Does anyone else feel like the team that invades has like an 80% chance of success regardless of each team's comp. In the maybe 25 times I've done the, catch them as they go to blue after wolves, not once did it backfire, its just so damn easy, wish teams listened every time.

A strong invade team that I can think of would be Corki/Blitz bot lane, Alistar jungle, Morgana mid, and top could be something like Shen, Olaf, Malphite, or Panth.

Alistars also real good for invades, but at the same time hard to invade against.
Usually blitz can signal an invade, if they get a lucky hook off it usually means someone dies too

On July 24 2012 02:25 Arisen wrote:+ Show Spoiler +As someone who doesn't watch a ton of competitive lol, I always seem to find myself at a quandary when wining top lane.
A lot of times I'll play like Kayle or Riven and just have a really good early game (or have an easy matchup) and be able to freeze my wave right outside my tower and deny the opposing top lane super super hard. Now, when Im at a big advantage like this, what should I be doing? I see two possible solutions:
1) Keep freezing your wave and denying your opponent to make the game essentially a 5v4.5
or
2) Push your wave to take the tower and roam to help your team
A lot of times I really wish I would just take my tower fast and help my team out because someone will do something dumb and it will cost our team when I know I could be out on the map, but then again, it seems like you're just allowing your opponent to catch up top lane (seems especially scary if you were versus someone like Nasus)
How do you know when to take your tower, or just push waves and roam, and when to freeze your wave and farm up a storm while denying?
Thanks. It's highly dependant on match-ups, situations, and how good people are doing, but as a general rule I used to still sit top at 20-25 minutes zoning my opponent and getting my farm (still less 200 because I'm a bad and back often to increase the item gap), with a 2-3 levels difference and several dozens of cs. Then I started just zoning enough to be able to push him out of lane (be it by 100-0 him, forcing a blue pill, or being able to dive him whenever I wanted if he stayed after I pushed) and emphasizing coordinated jungle invades, mid ganks, dragons and generally objectives (forcing my team to take down mid tower for example) and I went from 1150 to 1300+ Elo.
I used to play Pantheon a lot too, so whatever little cs my opponent was able to get didn't matter if I didn't make the other two lanes as underfarmed as him to use my power peak.
Regarding Talon, I've been running an ArPen/mp5/flat MR/mix of MS-MR-AD (depends on mood) page, which gives me around 20 ArPen @1 (some waste, but still doing true damage at level 3-4), then building bruta ensures me high damage until they build a chainvest (if they do it early I'll jut rush LW), but I lack AD to one shot the creeps. Maybe I should keep like 10 ArPen and switch the rest to AD to be able to shove easily and roam? I tend to use my ult even if it won't net me a kill just to make them blue pill too, but I should probably aim at getting myself fed rather than starving them, as an assassin...

A lot of times, the team defending against the invade will just try to run, no matter how good their positioning or level 1 fight is. I often see fights that could have gone very well for the defending team, but they just turn tail because the power of surprise overwhelms them, forcing them to blow all their CC and abilities to escape when they easily could have gotten FB from the enemy's invade.

Orianna super good against invades.

She does 80 magic damage with Q+Passive, which is about average, and snares for two seconds. That's definitely an asset in an invade.

What...
You get Q. See invade coming, they see ball, they get scurred

Yeah as I said before most my invades turn into 3-4 people on the invaded team running from the 5 man invade team and trying not to get caught. What do you guys think are the best invade times/paths to take also? Obviously it depends on the enemy junglers red/blue preference. Are invades best if you can be almost certain where the jungler will start? Because it always feels kinda silly when you guess wrong and no one is there (although you can still steal the buff).

Half of the danger of an invade is that you either don't see them coming, or you have to use a body to scout, which can be picked off. Orianna completely changes that. Almost risk free scouting.

I think the point is more see ball, "oh they know we're here this is pointless"
