The creation of a new hero/champion is meant to be one of above average or even imba strength to boost adoption, this is especially necessary since most initial players would be unfamiliar with the hero and only balatant imbalance would make the new match up with the old without anybody having played it. Then once peak familiarly and popularity has been obtained, the hero is nerfed back to the normal power standard and the new approved hero is released. I have heard this before but is it just speculation or has a current or former employee claimed it? Jaina's release certainly didn't fit that business model.

Outside thrall's nerf i mean.

I get the sense that it's going to be a while before people figure out what to do with the Vikings such that we can assess how good they are.

It almost feels like the splitting them is a novelty with now the deathball system works right now. Without an ability like Meepo's Poof you can't get across the map very easily with them when a team fight breaks out so you mostly need to be grouped up with them. When they are grouped they can do pretty good damage but also suffer from the current meta of AOE damage dealers being popular. So they take 3x as much damage compared to an individual hero.
But I'll need way more time to form an actual opinion. This is more just gut reaction.

Everything, especially tanks, drop sooo fast when Valla has max hatred stacks. Hammer and Raynor can now out-range a tower with auto-attacks, if that even means much at 20.
I tried it three times just now. For me it felt as if I was to stagnant during the fights. I was missing Bolt of the Storm very much. I believe Valla already is pretty "edgy" in the sense, that she kills fast but also dies fast (I guess the technical term is glass canon :D) and the auto-attack build made her even edgier. This is of course only my first feel for that build after 3 games.
P.S.: Dealing that much damage was fun, of course. :D

I wonder if a good change to Stitches would be if you make it so you can dash DURING being hooked to escape away. So it would make some heroes more vulnerable to Stitches (Raynor / Jaina) but other not so much (Valla / Tychus.) This would make Stitches more a situational pick who can also be counter picked if he is picked too early.

Any word on stealth nerfs ?

I havent played them yet, but I do like they seem to be very very easy with all passives, or a bit more complex with the active abilities and other talents. It's not as punishing as Meepo so that's something that I like.

Heroes with dashes are already strong; they don't really need an additional perk. I'd rather not see the game turn into LoL where every hero has a mobility skill and the ones that don't are banished to the dumpster.

So depressed by Thrall's nerf. I thought he was balanced. He wasn't a deathball fighter at all, only good at skirmishing. Oh well, time to find a new char to main.

I personally didn't find him very OP either but the fact remains he was either #1 or #2 on hotslogs for win%. I think he and BW fought for that spot.

I felt that way at first too, but at lvl 20 she gets a huge range increase which helps her be a little safe. She loses the snare from Frost Shot which can be nice to run / chase stuff down of course.
But fun fact, first time I tried aa built was on Mines and I realized none of Valla's Multishot talents actually increase damage (other than arsenal), so I was just as effective at collective skulls. Sure overall damage was lower without range or battle momentum, but for AoE burst objectives it's basically the same.
So speaking of Raynor, has anyone tried him out as a specialist? Raynor's recruit lets you take out 3 of the bruisers, then you have Merc Lord and Yamato baseline to Hyperion. I'm really not sure what to take for the rest of his talents though (in any build really). Plus, I'm scared that giving up Give me More and Revolution Overdrive is just going to make me tissue paper (but I guess a good specialist has to pick their spots anyways huh?).

Dunno, just played against Thrall and he seemed fine. He was able to sustain just fine.

I played against a few Thralls post-patch. They seemed about the same other than less constant spamming (most notably getting Sundered over and over again).
But then again, my normal Thrall mode is kite / run still lol.

The Thrall nerf vs cloak is kinda like a "bug fix". I think it was kinda BS that you could hit cloaked units with an auto target skill.
Its still a nerf on top of battle momentum, but the patch is mostly nerfs, so he is prolly fine.

Yeah I played against him a few times and he seemed pretty much the same to me

Are people still building Zeratul mostly the same way these days or has the block/fa build become more common now that you have to choose between rending and double bombs?

i used to open like that always, except for nexus frenzy, which is new. ive stopped doing it cause people kept telling me multishot builds are superior. there was a guy in this thread even arguing about how important it is to open with extra range instead of hatred/attspeed
does nexus frenzy really change so much? also, im doing more tychus and after playing him i cant belive there are people who argued valla was the noob friendliest dps out there. u literally lock in and move around with him, you are pretty beefy for such high dps, and up until today you had extra life...
