I was actually wondering the same thing since I've been training in jiu jistu and wrestling for a while now buti after some thought I realized this would be impossible. A chimp would most likely bite the fuck out of my forearm or bicep if I tried to get it in a rear naked choke. Maybe all of the adrenaline would make it possible but I'm really not confident that I'd be able to do much of anything.
Brock Lesnar vs Travis...gogo.

dunno , if you supposedly had him in a headlock, i don't see how he would be able to bite you since your arm would be below his chin and his face wouldn't be able to move at all, he would be trapped. Maybe he'd still be able to punch you in the face/back tho

You wouldn't be able to take the flailing arms. An elbow to the chest would probably knock you over.

Getting a chimp into a headlock? XD
Funny mental image but I am sure he would probably break all the bones in your arms before that happens...

how do you headlock a chimp with no arms?

it makes me wonder.... DOES THAT CHIMP LOOKS LIKE CHRIS BROWN?

^taking bets on this guy getting banned.

I'll take the risk of sounding ignorant.
Chimpanzees are no Gorillas , they may have 5x the strengh of a male, but when you have him in a headlock its a matter of resistance and time till he eventually dies. there are lots of stories about people in perilous situations who suddenly have super-human strength when Adrenaline kicks in, your state of mind changes completely , you wouldn't even notice you broke your bones till after all ends. they lift cars, giant boulders to rescue themselves or other people.

Its crazy what you can do when your pumped up on adrenaline and red bull

Seconding. If by some off change you were able to get your arms around his neck and not get bit to shit, his long as arms gonna knock you out.

Wow, that phone call was scary. And I don't get that NY Post Cartoon; why the police offer said what he said if he's referring to this ape story.

The 5x strenght is misleading, that is prensile strenght only.
For example a chimpancee cannot benchpress 500% what a human can, actually a trained fighter could beat a chimpancee if the chimpancee had its mouth restrained, not in force obv but we are much more efficient fighters and he could probably knock the chimp out.

True, but how do you know chimpanzees don't have an extra adrenaline kick in as well? Just in normal activity, their arm strength is 5x stronger than an equivalent fit human male. I think their bones are a lot more dense as well. One inadvertent elbows/fist to any point on your body could cause serious injury.

"An experiment conducted in the Bronx Zoo in 1924 compared the strength of a 165-pound adult man, and a 165-pound male chimp named "Boma", and a 135-pound female chimp named "Suzette". They compared how much weight the human could pull with one arm to that of the apes, the adult man managed to pull 200 pound before reaching his maximum. The male chimp, on the other hand, pulled 847 pounds of weight with one arm, and the female chimpanzee 1,260 pounds."

Jibba: Answer Man
That's friggin mind blowing. I guess it makes sense. Climbing trees takes enough arm strength, but flinging yourself from branch to branch is a whole nother ball game
