This is STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT. Do you honestly think anyone is going to hear that sound in the background and automatically think "Oh, there is a chimpanzee attacking someone!" You realize the likelyhood of these things? I guarantee you 99% of the time, regardless of who was on the phone with the woman, they would not have made that conclusion the first time she said "chimp."

I dont agree, the operator was good, pro even. he was calm and tryed to find out facts so the police would know what they were facing. its not like chimp attacks is everyday shit.. and some questions is just asked for here to answer so she stays with him and doesent do something stupid in panic.

sad story, i feel sad for everyone. the chimp too

Yeah I couldn't believe how inept that fucking operator was. The screaming monkey noises in the background are easily recognized by anyone 5+ years old. They were loud and repeated, backdropping the woman's desperate, but coherent, explanation of the situation.

I would have asked for a native English speaker right away.

Oh and he waited like a whole minute before, "oh btw, someone is on the way". MORAN

Flat out, anyone who think this operator handled this situation any way short of superbly does not know what they are talking about. I have a family member who has been the manager of a regional 911 center for 7 years now, and when your dad has that kind of a job you find it hard not to ask questions (as a lot of times I heard about some incident on the news, and it happened in our area, my dad can tell me much more about what happened). I can assure you everything this guy did was 100% by the books.

I believe he followed the procedure he's supposed to, as in he didn't put the phone down and hide in a closet, he's stupid because he took so long to understand. He followed the book but very very slowly.

Put 99% of the population in the same extraordinary position as that 911 operator and you would have made the same "mistakes" that you think he made. Problem with your perspective is that you first listened to the clip knowing it was about this chimpanzee attack. Going into that with completely no knowledge of what the situation was, the operator did about as good as you could ask any person to do.

Guy has a point in that the operator was notoriously slow in "Getting it" You cant fake that sort of hysteria anyway. I work in a clinic and you can really tell when someone has a serious problem and when they have just a cold by the way they act.

most of the 911 operators are dumbasses.. most of the replay of 911 calls i heard operators are being emo and dumbasses and delay in sending help.

example scenario

victim: HELP IM BEING ATTACK BY DOG!
911 operator: what dog?
victim: HELP !!! IM BEING MAULED BY MY DOG!
911 operator: calm down lady , we need to know what is happening there pls calm down
victim: HELPPPP IM DYING!!!
911 operator: did a dog really attacked you? is that your own dog? r u injured?
victim:HELP!!! PLS HELP SEND HELP!! MY DOG IS ATACKING ME!
911: lady, we cant help you if you dont calm down. please calm down and tell me exactly whats going on.

after long long long ass time asking shit questions
911: ok we sending police.

ya this is typical 911 calls i heard . those operators are dumbasses

i mean, they should be smart enough to know a lady's distress call right?

its funnier the operator couldn't send help first then ask questions later? every second counts when someone is in that situation. imagine u r the victim. u r helpless and want help as fast as possible and those operators and delaying. wtf?

The operator needs to make sure the officers have enough information to be able to handle that situation before sending them out. The safety of the officers is as important as the victim's.

Someone would post this stupid ass news. So fuckin stupid I hear it enough on the radio/newspaper/websites that it has to come along tl.net to be read as well. I won't say that they deserved this but its a fuckin exotic animal and to top it off they were feeding it xanax and heaven knows what else.

Oh and how ridiculous of them to come back later and say that they didn't feed it xanax is even more stupid of them.
