Doesn't the guy sound like a fucking moron? OP:Stamford 911, wereres ur emergency? Woman: name, address, (chimp screaming in backrgound)... OP: what's the problem? (chimp screaming louder in backrgound) Woman: send the police. (chimp screaming even louder in backrgound) OP: What's the problem there?! (chimp screaming ) Woman: the, the, the chimp killed my friend! OP: What's the problem with your friend? (chimp screaming ) Woman: help, please! (chimp screaming ) OP: what's the problem with yer friend!? I NEED TO KNOW! (chimp screaming ) Woman: send the police out! With a gun! with a gun! Hurry up! OP: Who hasssss a gun? Woman: Please hurry up, he's killing my girlfriend! OP: What es te problem? Woman: He's killing my friend! OP: WHO'S KILLIN YOUR FRIEND? WOMAN: MY CHIMP, MY CHIMPANZEE OP: Oh, your chimpansee es killin ur friend? WOMAN: He ripped her apart, hurry up! (op in background radioing message finally) OP: There is someone on the way. now go back and listen again. PS- Every fuckin school kid knows what a damned monkey sounds like. Yeah I couldn't believe how inept that fucking operator was. The screaming monkey noises in the background are easily recognized by anyone 5+ years old. They were loud and repeated, backdropping the woman's desperate, but coherent, explanation of the situation. I would have asked for a native English speaker right away. Oh and he waited like a whole minute before, "oh btw, someone is on the way". MORAN

I have a family member who has been the manager of a regional 911 center for 7 years now, and when your dad has that kind of a job you find it hard not to ask questions (as a lot of times I heard about some incident on the news, and it happened in our area, my dad can tell me much more about what happened). I can assure you everything this guy did was 100% by the books. Woman: send the police out! With a gun! with a gun! Hurry up! Monkey: EEEIIIIAAAHHHh!!!!!! OP: Who hasssss a gun? In which chapter of "the book" is there a directive to be an incomprehensible idiot?

Problem with your perspective is that you first listened to the clip knowing it was about this chimpanzee attack. Going into that with completely no knowledge of what the situation was, the operator did about as good as you could ask any person to do. Guy has a point in that the operator was notoriously slow in "Getting it" You cant fake that sort of hysteria anyway. I work in a clinic and you can really tell when someone has a serious problem and when they have just a cold by the way they act.

IM BEING MAULED BY MY DOG! 911 operator: calm down lady , we need to know what is happening there pls calm down victim: HELPPPP IM DYING!!! 911 operator: did a dog really attacked you? is that your own dog? r u injured? victim:HELP!!! PLS HELP SEND HELP!! MY DOG IS ATACKING ME! 911: lady, we cant help you if you dont calm down. please calm down and tell me exactly whats going on. after long long long ass time asking shit questions 911: ok we sending police. ya this is typical 911 calls i heard . those operators are dumbasses i mean, they should be smart enough to know a lady's distress call right?

The operator needs to make sure the officers have enough information to be able to handle that situation before sending them out. The safety of the officers is as important as the victim's.
