I am so so so sorry for this poor woman who had to go through this ordeal and her friend that suffered horrendous injuries. I heard the call and I could hear the chimp going nuts in the background. That is one disturbed animal. Chances are he probably didn't recognise the woman who stepped out of the car. The excitement she showed for her friend may have been mistaken for a malicious move and the chimp attacked to protect HIS friend (the owner).
It's a simple matter of miscommunication. This is why animals belong in the wild. We are not physically powerful enough to control them. Without our brains we would have been extinct long time ago.
