UK and NL attempting to build a coalition to send F16s. It's about time we send them. We're phasing them out for the F35 anyway.
London CNN —
Britain and the Netherlands are working on an “international coalition” to help Ukraine procure F-16 fighter jets that Kyiv says are vital to its defense as Russia ramps up its aerial strikes, a spokesperson for UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said Tuesday.
The two NATO allies are trying to get the US-made warplanes to Ukraine as well as training Kyiv’s pilots to fly them, according to the Downing Street readout following a meeting between Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte at the Council of Europe Summit in Iceland.
Ukraine, which has been saying the fighter jets are essential to defend against Russian missile and drone attacks, welcomed the announcement from the British and Dutch leaders.
“We need F-16s, and I am grateful to our allies for their decision to work in this direction, including training our pilots,” said Andriy Yermak, head of the office of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Yermak said Belgium, another NATO ally, in particular, had “confirmed its readiness to train” Ukrainian pilots.
Britain does not have F-16s in its air force, but the Netherlands and Belgium do. The US Air Force has almost 800 F-16s in its fleet. edition.cnn.com

https://t.me/voenacher/44751 Another video from the night attack on UA air defence. Location of attack seem to be Sikorsky International airport in southwestern Kiev. Below is the sattelite imagery of the airport from March to May of 2023, which shows new roads and emplacements being constructed on the airfield itself (presumably, for AA launchers). https://lostarmour.beseda.space/api/v1/picture/email_9b89201288e460cb8c97f672cede7c661c38a859/chi70icigdggi6gn6k8g
Two moments I've noticed on the video: 1) During the first explosion there seem to be some vehicles in close proximity, being highlighted by the blast 2) Before the first explosion there is a short burst of AA gunfire to the left of the blast itselft, there seem to be three tracers going up in the sky, and their sound is heard right before the sound of the blast.

It should be noted that only one of the arrests could be connected to the recent supposed failure of the missiles, the other 2 have been arrested last year. I have seen this narrative a lot, but the timeline only works out for the one arrests and it could just as much be a result of the war revealing corruption and forcing authorities to act on it.

All based on an open letter by a random institute that may or may not know was posted in their name about people arrested last year, at just the right time to push the narritive away from the Patriot failure and the massive depot hits the past week.
Though its propaganda pushed to people that believe that 6 hypersonic missiles were shot down in one night. Its not going to have a lot of work or thought put into it. Date, logic and sources dont mean much.
Edit: eight years in prison for filming missile strikes. Im sure thats the only way the Russians can detect radar stations, no other way at all. Nope. Or its easier to claim everything was shot down if anyone with evidance of missile stikes gets sent to jail. We will never know

Up to eight years does not equal eight years, its just the max sentence possible. Lets say I am a ukrainian and make a video of some new command post and upload it somewhere. It gets picked up by russian intelligence and the command post is destroyed in a strike. I did not intend to reveal the location, but I am still at fault, lives are lost and the war effort could be seriously damaged. That is more of a case where you would see the full 8years being laid down, the people investigated here might just walk away with a fine. Ukraine has been pretty consistent in their attempts to control the information space, rightfully so. Look at how russia was hurt by operational security failures. And before you go on about freedom and liberties, its very understandable that certain liberties are limited when you are at war...
On the missile story, the article Excludos linked is not bad at all, I was speaking more about having seen the narrative that all the arrests are connected to the alleged kinzhal failure in articles and opinions in general. This one does not draw any such conclusions and just reports on scientists involved with the project being arrested, and I just felt like pre-emptively work against that. EDIT: Meaning working against the risk of this turning into a "see, they arrested some scientists for it!". Really badly messed up that last sentence there.

Yeah, I was mostly just poking fun in the first sentence there, with no real basis. The latter still holds true. As with anything, it's difficult to know the exact truth, but science very much works on sharing information, which is the ideology that is clashing in Russia atm. That doesn't mean they're sharing sensitive information; they stated that they stripped that from their articles, but Russian authorities doesn't care. The part of "the best students refuse to come to work with us, and our best young employees are leaving science" is the real issue they're going to be facing going forward. Russia is currently undergoing a massive exodus of educated personell, who doesn't want anything to do with how the government is treating them.

Boris said Macron was ‘Putin’s lickspittle’ and a ‘c**t,’ ex-aide claims
A furious Boris Johnson once privately described Emmanuel Macron as “Putin’s lickspittle” and promised to “punch his lights out,” a key aide to the former U.K. prime minister claimed. Detailing his experience of Johnson’s chaotic premiership in a new podcast, former Downing Street director of communications Guto Harri said Johnson launched into a tirade about Macron in the months following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine — and after the French president criticized the U.K.’s response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis. “At our morning meeting, I think with a small gang of us, he just launched into a violent attack on Emmanuel Macron,” Harri said. “Basically, saying ‘He’s a four-letter word that begins with C, he’s a weirdo, he’s Putin’s lickspittle.’” According to Harri, Johnson apparently then referenced a desire to damage Macron — and deployed an anti-French slur while he was at it. Johnson, Harri said, continued: “‘We need to go studs up on this one’ — a rugby term that basically means, gloves off — ‘We need an orgy of frog bashing. I’m going to have to punch his lights out.’” A spokesperson for Johnson said he did not recognize Harri’s account of the meeting and played no part in his former official’s tell-all podcast. “There were tensions early on when people like Emmanuel Macron of France went to Moscow to talk to Putin,” Harri said, referring to Macron’s visit to Moscow in the weeks preceding the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. “I think Boris described it privately as ‘nauseating,’” Harri added. “Weeks later, of course, they had patched it up. They got on really well. They actually went for a whisky together at the G7 summit,” Harri said. https://www.politico.eu/article/boris-johnson-emmanuel-macron-vladimir-putin-lickspittle-weirdo-aide/

Boris is a buffoon and while I accept that a stopped clock is still sometimes right I lean towards approval of anyone he actively dislikes. His moral compass is very reliable in as much as it always points south.

For one town... 70k of casualties. Believe to be losing a battalion a day; according to Google a Battalion size is up to 1,000 soldiers. This is pure WW1 tactics against modern armaments etc. Insane.

The losses are surely in the thousands, but you can't take Ukrainian assessments of Russian losses at face value. Neither the other way around.
And just for perspective. At true WW1 casualty levels, that level of losses would be a DAY. Not 10 months.

The U.S. supports training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in cooperation with its partners. The question of F-16s from the most important party is now answered.

Training is the easy part. Actually delivering planes and all the supporting infrastructure is a slightly bigger hurdle.

True, but the numbers of people who participated in WW1 was also greater. I don't have the numbers to do a percentage calculation tho. Maybe someone smarter than me could do it. I would still think it's likely a lot lower

Ardias, do you have any vision what can other countries leaders do to stop this madness apart from providing weapons to Ukraine (which won't stop anything for a long time).
What can settle all this? Are there any talk in Russia that an exit and rebuild strategy would be necessary?

Something has apparently hit the Mariupol airport. Huge explosion.
