The secular, average america type muslim simply isnt the norm. Islam is in direct incompatibility with secularity and freedom of expression. For every muslim terrorist there are a million muslims who agree with it but wouldnt go up to blowing themselves. Not saying this is the majority, but certainly a huge chunk. Then comes those in between which are indifferent to it. And then theres this fairy tale version of western muslims portrayed in this show, which even if it made up for 35% of them, seems like deceptive to me but......none of thats true. the only people who agree with suicide bombers are other suicide bombers or future suicide bombers.

What are you basing this on, Shine? Your own conjecture and limited knowledge of Islam and the many millions that make up the religion, or actual facts?
Anyone else smile when they saw the banners for Lowes on TL? They'll support us gamers, but not them muslims. Kinda wondering why Lowes paid so much attention to this association from Florida. I've never heard of them, do they have national clout? Apparently now they do.

This is really sad news. Why is world so much hate?

This is silly. Xenophobes are really ruining all remaining avenues of decency we have

How is it so the "secular, average american type muslim isn't the norm"? Muslims have the second highest income and education levels (secular education) next to Judaism and are the least likely of any major religious group to vote.
At max Muslims make up 2% of our population, are the least likely to vote of any major religious affiliation and have high levels of secular education. I fail to see how American Muslims are inherently subversive to governance and "liberties".

Good for Lowe's honestly. No religion should be be supported directly, or indirectly. I don't care what the reasons are for pulling the ads (even though I know what they are. I DID read the article), any action that speeds up the demise of religion as a whole is welcome. The sooner we stop believing in stone age nonsense, the sooner we can put all those minds to work on things that actually matter.

This is just my genuine curiosity at work here, but what is wrong exactly with religion? I don't mean to sound rude and I certainly do not mean to start a shit storm, I am actually just curious. The reason I ask is mainly due to the last sentence, which makes me wonder how believing in a religion would preclude someone from working on things that actually matter. Though, it may very well be the case that I read this wrong. If so, feel free to enlighten me.

I don't like religion either.
But religion is also heritage, and family history. You need to at least respect the different religions as having equal right to exist in society.
Lowe's wouldn't pull ads, and wouldn't have groups advocating them to pull ads, if this were a show about a Christian family espousing Christianity. Would they? No.
Pretty shameful. I won't start being a Lowe's customer anytime soon.

Yes! Who needs freedom of thought to progress as a species!?
|
|
Religion does not restrict freedom of thought when used responsibly. It merely provides an explanation for the existence of our species and a moral code to live by during mortal life.
Edit: Also, I don't get why people think that Islam is trying to kill us. It is one of the largest religions in the world. A small group of a couple thousand people blow the doctrine of Jihad out of proportion, and we decide that people with Middle-Eastern blood are all out to get us.

Funny how some people in this thread think that because a few hundred people in this organization think there is some islamic threat, that every american does.

What a joke, at no point even 1,000 years from now will Islamic peoples be a majority nor have the voting bloc to change any of our rather secular and mundane governance philosophy.
Get real. You don't know nothing man, they are coming. You may laugh at this, but mark my words.
I love it when people say "you don't know nothing"
Get your double negatives straight, please.
If you know nothing, it means you're clueless. If you DON'T know nothing, it obviously must mean you know something.

Almost every religion in the world indoctrinates children at a young and vulnerable age before they are capable of logical and rational thought to decide for themselves if religion is something they want to be a part of.
I will never support a religion that survives on the fact that it indoctrinates minors into it's belief system. Even worse is when said religion actively disregards currently proven/accepted facts (such as evolution, that is a huge one) in order to propagate the factual inadequacies which support said religion (such as creationism).

Good for them. According to that article they may even release info on people they believe related to (other) hate groups like the KKK. If any people are revealed for those reasons they deserve everything they get. Intolerance is one of the few things that get me truly angry.
Reading through all this has just disgusted me. How can people still have that mindset? Somehow these people/groups like the FFA can claim that there ignorance as grounds to suppress others. I can't help but wonder how groups like FFA would react if someone treated them to what they do to other people. Things like this truly show that some people are just children in adult bodies, that they haven't learned anything past elementary school and just listen to what their (probably prejudice) parents told them without thinking about it.
