Religious issues are rife in America, but this conservative group is free to express what they want. Funny how free speech applies even when people's beliefs conflict with yours. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right. Funny how people think that free speech means the content of said speech is something worthwhile. At least most people still have the decency to back out of saying stupid things, even if they were within their legal right to say said stupid stuff.

Even then, it isn't correct semantics, a race can be just a group of people united by a common culture, making racism a perfectly fine word to use, go check a dictionary or something.

Really though, we should be upset with TLC. All reality-TV is terrible and TLC should be ashamed for airing it.

At least most people still have the decency to back out of saying stupid things, even if they were within their legal right to say said stupid stuff. What's even more interesting is the fact people aren't even questioning whether this group has the right to say what they want. I think the issue at hand is the fact that this group attributes rather terribly beliefs to Muslims that they clearly should not be. I should clear up what I'm saying instead of being vague. So, to preface this, I was raised Muslim (more on this later) and I came here with my family from Pakistan when I was too young to even speak. So, I have some connection with this issue, even though I was only briefly watching the news before I left for a final. Also, I will admit, I am not as well versed in the religion as my parents are, nor am I a practicing Muslim. Now, from personal experience I have met many people who were just flat out confused about Islam. This confusion ranged from "Muslim=Terrorist?" to "So you're a vegetarian, right?" Despite this, I am consistently surprised when anyone makes a claim in the vicinity of "the values of Islam are <blah> and therefore bad." It seems quite easy for someone to just figure out whether or not many Muslims believe any of this. I guess this is why I believe the issues lies where it does. The mere fact that people seem to bathe in this ignorance makes me feel like the world is one giant shit hole, but what can you do? This brings me to my next point. I have come to he realization that, by now, if people still buy the crap then they will continue to buy it even if you tell them to smell it. I do not claim to know why, and I will say this is all from personal experience, but it is what I sincerely believe. So, in reality, while I should be pissed about the fact that this is happening, all it has caused me to do is sigh audibly and move on with my life. Things have gotten much better, and nowadays when I tell people I'm a Muslim (it's a huge part of how I was raised), they're just surprised that I've never had bacon (yes, I have heard it's delicious, and no I am not going to try it). On the other hand, there are just some really stubborn people out there. Anyway, this disorganized mass of thought is just a way for me to say "Fuck it" and move on with my life. Some people are stubborn and ignorant, but loads more are actually pretty good about figuring out what's really going on (or so it seems).

Made me laugh ![]() As an American, let me call my brothers into arms. Raise your hand if you're actually surprised. Anyone? Anyone? Oh that's right, we know the power of special interest groups. And we know that white people here just on average don't like "brown" people. Crackers hide behind the flag, the bible, 9/11, all that good shit. Remember when everyone blew their brains when they said they might build a Mosque on Ground Zero? Yeah... moving forward, indeed. I like living in the Pacific Northwest. We don't suffer a lot of this melodrama here, comparatively, to the midwest and south.

You actually have anything to back that up?

Who exactly thinks that the children of the children of the children of these immigrants, no matter how fundie they are, will have the same views? Much of Europe is on track to split up the Euro zone and start fighting amongst each other, same as last century also. I would infact say thats a much bigger concern.

Islam, like few other cultures, successfully resists full assimilation into new countries. This means brown people are going to be celebrating a religion and practice different from yours for the next few generations and that will do plenty to piss off American bigots. You're deranged if you think America is getting out of our two-party, corporatist, WASP system anytime soon. Note that ad money was the only thing strong enough to get Glenn Beck off a regular Fox show.

So I guess your statement is correct. Also I am in the US and I am taking your jobs and houses. I imagine that does make me some sort of an invader right?
