Yep american houses are made out of paper and wood lol I still dont completely understand why this is the case. Why dont they just use bricks ? It's way stronger, less maintenance. Is it just cause it's cheaper and faster to build ? Yes, lets make our houses out of bricks in an earthquake zone. We'll be protected from random cannon accidents!
Really hope this doesn't impact the show too much. I can't imagine Discovery not paying anything the homeowners ask for in this case. Glad no one got hurt.

And now it's time to JAIL BUSTERS ;D

I think the real question here is, why is a bomb range so close to a residential area? you'd think they'd space these kind of things out a bit more...

and of course the episode where they blew c4 or anfo or something up and caused them to be banned from some small nevada town.

I'm also sure that you could get a SUPER DEAL on a house in development being built near a bomb range!

Looks like the myth isn't the only thing that was busted

I know that road and that neighborhood. :O They must've been at the top of the hill when they shot that cannon because damn that's a really far distance it went. In which case... what were they thinking?

yeah, I'm sure I'm not the only person who has either slammed a door too hard or punched a wall for some reason, resulting in it being broken wide open.
Homes aren't all that durable.

I'm no rocket scientist but it looks like this could've been prevented quite easily.

Let me get something straight. They shoot a cannonball at a few garbage cans full of water, fully expecting it to stop. When in reality, The ball went through 1) A concrete wall 2)A house 3) Another house 4) Off a roof 5) Into a car. How solid are these garbage cans? Seems like they won't be aiming at residential neighbourhoods anymore.
|
I bet the garbage cans were filled with water, not that it'd make a huge difference.
|
Was there any word where they were testing? I thought they used to test at an abandoned Naval base with a huge runway.

When I used to watch the show it seemed like they always took the biggest safety precautions before doing tests.
lol you make me chuckle. mythbusters always took the barest of safety precautions and all of their experiments were incredibly flawed anyway. talk about having no control variables or even any basic logic.

You know how water can stop a full speed bullet in 3-5 feet? Same general principle with any projectiles.

Mythbusters - test the myth of a cannonball doing that much damage! I don't believe it! Implausible!

Sounds like they used way too much blackpowder or american houses are made out of paper. Both are true, drywall is literally paper, i mean if you were angry enough you could probably punch a hole that big in someones house eventually. My house has plasterboard (really old shit but its thick) and I was still able to punch clean through a double sheet of it when taking down a wall to make my kitchen bigger.

Haha this is hilarious. ''Ehh, bro come check this out, sum1 fired a cannonball at our house''

Since noone got hurt, this is HILARIOUS.
