Actually, out of curiosity I happened to look up this area on Google Maps, and then again on Zillow. These homes that back up to a bomb range (and a jail on the other side of that)... they're valued in the price range of $500,000 to $700,000. It's actually in a nicer area of California that's less densely populated, with forests and mountain ranges on the edge of the town.

Endangering the lives of the people in the neighbourhood, something is bound to get cancelled. Add to op when the news comes out The chances of them getting canceled are pretty slim, to be honest. Had someone actually got hurt, or had they been lax in their usual mounds of precaution, maybe. But all signs and their history, as well as all people involved indicate it was far more of a freak accident than gross negligence on their part. Tie that in with the Mythbusters being one of their most popular shows by a reasonable amount and the personalities on the show being the types to make double sure something like this never happens again, and you end up with Discovery having little rhyme or reason to shut them down, though this will probably hurt what the network will allow them to do in a noticable way. Yeah, I really think people are overreacting. Sure, this was a serious accident that could have killed someone... but so is a car accident. The company behind Mythbusters will have to pay for all of the repairs plus some kind of settlement to a family or two (particularly the one whose car and home was hit hard), but that's it. No million dollar lawsuits, no jail sentences, no show cancellations. It was just an accident, and should be treated just like a car accident due to faulty brakes or something like that.

Any house around the bay area that's 2 story that's been built in like the past 10 years fall around the 400 to 700k range. it's not really about how nice the houses are but how good the location is.

This is pretty much how I see the whole thing. I mean, yeah, wow, near miss glad no one was hurt but in the grand scale of things.. the responses I'm reading are a tad ridiculous. Oh shut them down! I hope they don't get canceled! How dangerous! What are they crazy? People die in horrible accidents every day, some serious and some not. This is the latter. I'm glad everyone is okay but I'm not losing any sleep over it. It would be nice if Discovery and History returned to their original purpose of providing educational TV instead of this though. As of right now the only time I turn on the television is to watch sports and check the weather. If I don't feel like using my phone or computer..

I'm sure they're still really pricey, as they are nice homes, but I'd still be willing to bet that they would be even more expensive if they weren't next to the bomb range and jail. :p

I can't believe Mythbusters of all people did something so stupid lol it should slow it down. Water and the trash bin would be send off flying everywhere the velocity of the cannon ball should drop significantly. Water will provide large frictional force to retard the incoming object (or Viscosity). Assuming that there are lot of trash bins to buffer the hit. The Mythbusters even set up a concrete safety barrier and it still went right through the wall. It just shows that cannonballs really are lethal weapons back in the medieval ages. I actually was visiting Dublin on that particular day to meet with my relatives. I always inquired where Mythbusters do their special explosive effects.
