I don't see how mindless popcorn entertainment can even hope to compete with the likes of "There Will Be Blood" or "No Country for Old Men." Somehow, I can imagine you swishing around some wine in a glass while making this statement with your eyes closed, and then giving a ripe ol' fart and reveling in its smell. I hate how this "What i like is smarter than what you like, and that makes me smarter" attitude that shows up so often in the general forum Yeah that is too sad.

I dunno why, but most of the times catwoman just pisses me off -.-.
Excited for the movie though, definently going to be a good movie, it will surely pass the Avengers I think.

bah I can't believe I'm going to have to wait a whole year to watch this =( I want to see it so badly

hope this is at least as good as dark knight

Well, The Dark Knight was a more serious film than Batman Begins. Even if the dialogue and acting could have been smoother at times (Maggie Gyllenhall lolwut) it still delivered on deeper levels than things exploding and Batman punching people.
Have you watched it?

Agreed with DeepElemBlues. Anyone who can look at Heath Ledger's performance and call it mindless popcorn entertainment is a pompous pseudo-intellectual douche. Yes, Maggie Gyllenhall sucks ass and never should have been in the movie. We get that and agree with you. Christopher Nolan agrees with you too, which is why she **SPOILER ALERT** DIAF halfway through the film.

Pseudo-Intellectual is exactly how I'd describe TDK, funnily enough. It doesn't make the movie bad, it just makes people think that it's deeper than it is.
Still enjoyed it, but I snicker whenever people mention how "deep" it is. Good movies don't need to be deep to be good, but I think a lot of people don't realize that and attempt to call it deep because they think it needs an Oscar to be legitimately good or something, I don't know.
Most good movies are deep, but not all. The few good movies that aren't deep, like TDK, Fight Club, The Matrix, etc. have fan bases that constantly feel the need to explain why those movies are deep when all of them revolve around very shallow philosophy, because they think that's the only way that people will accept them as being as good as deeper movies. The thing is, they are as good as deeper movies, they just aren't deep themselves.

I agree with you too. That's why I can enjoy the TDK as much as I enjoy Seven Samurai. Blasphemy, film buffs would say, but it's the truth. I'm not saying TDK is deep (because it wasn't), but the quality of Ledger's performance WAS. It was a testament to the craft of acting and to the value of a richly developed villain, and a spectacular moment in film.

What the fuck is a shallow philosophy? One that doesn't address every aspect of every thing inside whatever boundaries you've assigned?
What the fuck are you even talking about? What's deep to you? Emotionally touching? Addressing a human concern? Confronting a real-life problem?

In the chant they are saying "Matalo Matalo bane bane" which i was told means; "kill him bane kill him bane"

Would you say American Beauty was deep, or would you say people think it is deep?

Joking aside, it means "he rises, he rises, he rises,..." etc.
