My US History professor said that if I took the AP exam, I wouldn't have to take the school exam... and the AP exam obviously doesn't count towards my school grades. So I took the AP exam, and halfway through I got very bored and ended up using the bubble sheet to draw this. + Show Spoiler + ![]() it was pretty hard to draw... Afterwards... + Show Spoiler + I got a 2 (out of 5) on the exam. I felt really bad afterwards cuz my US Hist prof was actually my college counsellor, and he had helped me get into almost all the ivies... sorry dude. Wait.. you get a 2 on an exam, and you get into almost all ivies? I'm guessing that APUSH didn't reflect you as a student at all?

I hope that everyone who does crap like this gets their graders angry at them and get spite-failed, despite having correct answers. My AP US history teacher told our class, often and in detail, that for an entire week he would get shipped off to dallas or wherever the grading is, sit in a giant gym or warehouse with a couple hundred teachers, and just burn through essays for 8 hours. Essays that are all saying the exact same thing. An article by a teacher grader ( http://www.examiner.com/a-1443213~This_is_Sparta____Facebook_prank_or_political_statement_.html ) said: "But as readers, we did adopt the Spartan spirit. In the Chief Reader’s last day speech, he encouraged 1100 teachers to grade the remaining hundred thousand essays by pumping his fist and shouting, “This is Sparta!” We cheered and cheered, and went to our tables that final day to grade the remaining tests, hurling them into a concrete pit of oblivion--or perhaps into a metal computer scanner. A Facebook prank with the modest goal of bringing a chuckle to the reading turned into a rallying cry to complete the daunting task on hand. We hundreds of Spartan readers tackled a million swarming essays and, unlike Spartans at Thermopylae, remained standing." There's really nothing wrong with this at all. It's like having a long day of movies, hanging out with friends, and chilling after finals week in school. It takes some of the stress out of the students and gives the readers something entertaining during their long grind through essays. As for me, I was part of the "Why so serious?" year, and I proceeded to write it on every one of my AP tests. On a calculus free response question I was clueless so I just drew the joker poster face. I got a 5 on it anyway and someone got to see some beautiful artwork ![]()

I'm going to offer some evidence towards this "joke" being somewhat effective towards lightening up the graders' moods: http://www.examiner.com/a-1443213~This_is_Sparta____Facebook_prank_or_political_statement_.html (EDIT: Oops this was already posted above me, sorry!) I was only taking two AP tests during the "This is Sparta" year and I didn't partake in it, but I did the following year (the "Why so serious" year) when I was taking five AP tests. The tests are a pain in the ass to study for as you can probably surmise and taking all of these tests within the course of a week is stressful, to say the least. This "joke" was simply a way to remove some of that stress from the experience and help it go along a little smoother. The idea was not to make the readers' jobs more difficult by cluttering up the pages with huge cross-outs as a way of rebelling. The idea (as I understood it) was to remove some of the seriousness from the whole AP ordeal in a way that wouldn't distract the grader. I will say that some of the posts I've read in this thread concerning huge bullshit answers/pictures or large blocks of cross-outs do not follow this idea. In fact, I would bet that most of the people who did this are those that know they aren't going to get a 5 and are just doodling to pass the time. EDIT2: Wow i basically just copied dudeman's post, didn't see it before. T_T

For eng lit, I did something similar and lightly scratched out paragraphs of rage at the choice of works that we had to read (shitting on Bloom's canon) while doing whatever was asked.

. In certain colleges it can also fulfill certain requirements, like if the college has a core curriculum. If you have no idea what the question is asking and have thrown in the towel, w.e draw whatever pictures you like.. But if you understand the material but just can't be bothered to finish the question cuz you're a 2nd semester senior and have seniorities, idk if it's the best idea...

You have to pay moniez to take these exams, and typically if you get a 4 or a 5 you can pass out of some intro level college classes (or even a 3 if the college is less strict), which is really nice and time-saving . In certain colleges it can also fulfill certain requirements, like if the college has a core curriculum. At my school if the teacher recommends you, the school district will play for your exam. I messed around on all of my AP exams, but still passed them (albeit barely passed in the case of Eng Lang >.<).
