Fabregas : 'It is the fibula. I think I put my leg between Puyol's when I was fouled, and kicked it.'
Fabregas as he said put his legs between Puyol's , and it was unintentional. but when you see it as an expectator it looks like Puyol intentionally did that, but it was an accident IMO
Despite all this , was a great game. Now with iniesta back for the home leg it will be much easier to create chances and basically control the tempo of the game for barca Arsenal really surprised me though getting back with those goals.

If the ref called what Puyol did a foul then he has to red card him

Yeah, zulu is right, it is a matter of calling it a foul or not, and then the red card is totally justified.
Bad angle from the ref is probably leading to that decision, but Puyol was standing in a very bad position I must say.

Messi had a much clearer penalty in the first half. He was running with the ball in the box near the byline and the defender just bashed knees without getting anywhere near the ball.
Still, messi didn't have the best of games. Considering the ridiculous amount of possession that Barcelona had. Xavi was stunning as always. No-one could get near him and he played that beautiful ball over the top for the goal, Alves never stopped running all game, his delivery was fantastic and then Ibra finished both his goals very well. Those 3 were the best on the night.

From whatching the game live I had the feeling Puyol's call was fair, I mean I definetly saw some pushing right there, and intense enough to prevent Fabregas to control the ball, so there was a foul. Given the position and the clear chanche (no matter what you say but getting the ball 3 meters away from the goal is a clear goalscoring opportunity) the red card was just a consequence

@puyol's call that's never ever a red card, clearly a bad call of the referee there and about the penalty: you can give it but you don't have to, and if you give it it's harsh, but ok imo
|
Dont u freaking get it ? If he gives a penalt its automaticall a red card cause he denied a clear chance and was possibly last man ( dont know it 100 % sure )
Penalty and red card or nothing at all are the only two options. I think both of them wouldnt be horribly wrong. It was a matter of '' who was there first '' and to me it looked like Puyol just stood there a second faster than Cesc actually did shoot .. pretty hard for the ref to call , though..

I just wanted to add the video of the penalty...
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xcsb10_barca22
I mean... looking at these angles, the ref had no choice but to concede the penalty and the red... cesc was in front of puyol and puyol didn't let him shoot while he was still behind the player

dani alves is the least creative and the most inconsistent player on barcelona. he either loses the ball by trying to put the ball under someone's legs, or tries to make a stupid difficult pass that gets picked off, or baloons his cross......and of course occasionally he'll do his amazing perfect cross.

lol at people saying the foul might be a penalty but not a red card
Dont you know the rules?

Alves is amazing imo

alvez crosses are terrible imo, other than that he's a very good player. if we compare Maicon with Alvez , Alvez is more of a complete player ( he plays with the team more and is less individualistic, )but Maicon has a huge edge in pace and accurate crosses.
now the Real vs Barca game coming up ;]

Duuuuuuuude, Dani Alves is fucking great. I've been a huge fan of him since I first saw him, like 5 years ago, in Sevilla. He was the most important reason that Sevilla had some of the most successful seasons in the history of the club when he was there (winning the UEFA Cup twice in a row, Dani Alves won the MVP award after one of them). He did everything, score beautiful goals, went on dazzling offensive raids, was a playmaker, and at the same time he was always there to defend when he had to due to his insane ability to run constantly and tirelessly for 90 minutes. In Barca he doesn't get the same opportunity to shine because there are a billions other star players, and he has indeed not been as great in Barca as he was in Sevilla, but he is no doubt one of the best wingbacks I've ever seen.

martin tyler is a wise man
"never write them off"
also, the first 20 minutes may have been the most absurd thing i've ever seen in a football match, i swear song and almunia were the only players on the pitch for arsenal in those 20 minutes

martin tyler has the most awesome voice and style of commentary ever.

huge edge in pace vs Dani Alves ?
There are NO players who have a HUGE ( !? ) edge in pace compared to Alves..
Only Usain Bolt comes to mind .. seriously..
Dani Alves is imho amazing.. he is agressive, rarely plays a bad pass is very good for offensive plays has a good free kick ect..

Alves is a good player but he is also kind of a punk much like alot of young players his age.

about alves we have to add that he has the skill of being able to cross even when there's an opponent right in front of him, while other fullbacks wouldn't even try because of the lack of space
about his pace well I think it's not that stunning, I mean Maicon is way faster imho, the thing is Alves never stops running, it's incredible.
