@Jibba, it's not UE3 it's a proprietary engine

Somehow DeusEx gets boring fast.
Already when i arrived in china i didn't have a lot of motivation to continue. I still did some of the sidequests but somehow the game isn't really challenging or forcing you to use your brain and the story didn't draw me in like the first DeusEx. Add to that some "We have to provide other ways, let's put air ducts at totally unrealistic places pumping air from the outside to the outside." and you get an ok, but not excellent game. Too much of it seems forced.
Well, maybe it's just me.

I'll probably be suckered into buying the DLC but I sure hope it won't be anything more than $5.

I really really really hope its worth it and Eidos isnt shooting themselves by polluting the franchise with dlc.

Found the game very boring and repetitive. Hacking was a horrible chore, insanely boring and way too much of it. It has good things, but nothing you haven't seen before.
7/10.

One more thing...
+ Show Spoiler +Did anyone give two shits about that pilot chick dying ? I didn't even realize I could save her since all I had on me was a tranq and stun gun. Later I realized I could have saved her but just didn't give a crap. Hurriedly finished the rest of the game, abandoning stealth completely just to be done with it and get back to SC.

OH and one more thing... Did anyone not find it strange that you could slaughter a whole city, all the civilians, and it had absolutely no consequence ? I just killed everyone in China town since I was bored and it had no effect +.+.
Also that terrrrrrible energy system... Upgrade your energy bar so you can have 5 but it only recharges 1 unless you eat food all the time ? Oh lord. I didn't even bother to upgrade anything that used energy since I wanted to use the single bar for takedowns ( since cloak lasted like 3 seconds on one bar ).

didn't they say they had to take out A LOT of content to get this game released on time or something? bound to be trillions of dlc because of that.

Montreal was supposed to be playable as a city hub and got cut, but from what i've heard for game length reasons (too long) rather than cause they couldn't meet deadlines.

+ Show Spoiler +I certainly wasn't as attached to her as I was to Jock.
Deus Ex felt so fucking depressing if Jock and Paul died. Faridah? her death didn''t have the same effect.

They said on the forums if the game could have been as long as they wanted it to be, it would have been 150-200 hours of content.
I'm perfectly fine with how much content they have now. But god damn, some of the stuff they cut out just made me mad. For instance, they said on the forums that the Wall-Punching Aug was going to be able to punch under the walls of cameras to pull out the wiring and disable them.

That's a shame, I feel like the game made you go down certain tech trees if you wanted to do certain things- playing as a stealth dude if I wanted to shut down security the only way I could was to go down the disable turret/bot tech tree, and if I wasn't playing a hacker already that would have been a huge bummer. Would have loved alternative ways to do things like that, rather than just get this aug/crawl in this duct/move this vending machine/kill everybody, which is kind of what the game broke down into for me.

I'd just like to say I tried purchasing this at 3 different retail stores and none of them had a copy and I don't have enough money in my paypal account for steam.
Pirating has never been more tempting.

Wall punch was the most useless aug in the entire game. After beating it I can't deny I thoroughly enjoyed myself. But having taken my time, explored the hell out of everything, and having spent only 30 hours to do so, I feel a little cheated. Like the there's 120 more hours of content hiding somewhere and nobody I've talked to has seen it yet.
Or maybe they meant explore everything on every difficulty >_>
Idk, I really enjoyed it and I think it's one of the best games of the year. But definitely fell short of the hype. (Still better than invisible war and worth being deus ex's sequel of course)
And yeah, I literally farmed cops for their assault rifles for money. I ended the game with all the upgrades and 50k to spare. There were no repercussions from knocking out a cop. Even after he woke up he didn't seem to give a fuck.

If there's DLC I won't buy it. Okay, I normally hate DLC enough not to buy games that have dlc on release et cetera. But this would be an extreme hate exception. Releasing a 75% done successor to one of the best western RPGs then releasing content that should have made the original game? Get the hell out.

Meanwhile you can kill and steal most everything in the game without consequence. The endings change slightly the more or less you kill people. The consequence is getting caught while doing those things.

You need to explore more, because the break wall aug pays for itself and then some with praxis points. Plus it shows you extra areas with interesting details that gives a bit more exposure to certain characters. It is far from useless.

I'm sure the 150-200 hour is a bit exaggerated. The developers themselves said it was more in the range of 50-70 hours, hence cutting Montreal as it was getting too long

I can't imagine anyone would mind if the game had more content :D. It's true that I mostly rush for the end while trying to complete all the things (if I like the game - I left AC: Brotherhood at around 50% completion) so it took me like 50 hours but the issue is knowing in advance how much hours till the end. Then I'll know when to "start rushing" :D.
