Excellent and fun game to play but was really disappointed with the ending, I thought by playing a certain way it would have influenced the end outcome but apparently it just came down to a choice between 1-4 :<

Were they rushed to finish the game? because it certainly didn't feel natural.

What were people's first upgrades? I went for the social interaction right off the bat - I didn't want to miss anything.

The moment the fight started I enabled cloak + infra, threw an EMP grenade and fired my grenade launcher a few times, easy mode xD.

BTW my impressions, spoiler-free:

I think that people naturally expect more freedom of choice in terms of the big story (Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age, KotoR….) but Deus Ex 3 is extremely bind by the setting - it's not just another new universe, it's our planet not so long time from now and many people already know what's going to happen 25 years after that. So you can't really have those polarized endings, they have to be symbolic because the specificity of the time between DE3 and DE1 is probably yet to be decided for DE4 (hopefully soon!).

Anyway, several little gameplay problems, I felt like a week with a group of play testers would make it like 300% better. It always happens, a studio somehow misses the most obvious things that could be changed in no time. Aside from the rectangular mini-map with no compass and the lack of a stats tab (enemies killed, take-downs, praxis earned by....) the problems weren't all that game-breaking as opposed to what I felt playing Mass Effect 1 and 2.

On the other hand, story-wise I encountered very, and I many VERY few situations when I was like "this dumb" or "I want to say something completely different". As someone who has yet to play DE1 but I read a lot of emails and such I'd give it 8/10, if they happen to fix the smaller issues in the future patches I'd say rock solid 9/10. Much less irritating than ME1 and 2, less freedom story-wise in the bigger scheme of things but that’s to be expected considering the setting.

You did have the quest tracking on from the settings though, right? I thought that worked fine and probably better than a compass.

The issue is that I look at the map where something is and then I have to check every time I lose my orientation. I'm not talking about the quest icons, just walking somewhere. If I know it's to the north from where I am now I could just follow the mini-map to north but there is no compass so I have check the bigger map over and over again. After some time I know the surroundings well enough to walk without a map but it's already too late .
Also the rectangular shape means you can/can’t spot something depending on your alignment to it (facing it you have shorter range).

hmmm the most important upgrades imo:

- hacking stealth
- hacking capture

- move heavy objects
- carrying capacity
- recoil
- armor ( you will still die very fast -.- )
- typhoon ( for boss fights )

luxury:

- sprint
- jump
- energy stuff

optional depending of your style:
- stealth / invi stuff

I also went for social interaction first, and it seems to be a good idea since it helped with several dialogues so far. Not sure if it's necessary, but is very useful.

I'm still in Detroit (right at first boss) but so far my strategy has been to leave several points unspent (usually 2-3) and only use them when I come across something I'm unable to do. So far it has allowed me to upgrade arm strength when I needed to lift a crate, hacking capture when I couldn't hack a doorpad, and allowed me to pick up Typhoon right as I came to the first boss.

Also smashing walls gets you some nice loot and access paths and Icarus landing is good for travelling around.

Armor and recoil are very useless imo, i was playing on the hardest difficulty and guns blazing playstyle and i didnt need that, the cover system is really good if u know how to use it.
I found the invisibility + energy recharge quite good, and the jump thing also makes you jump retardedly high, makes some vents really easy to reach.

Overall i'd say you should pick these up:

Hack level 4, Turret and robot hack upgrade.

Leg upgrade, only level 1

Invisible upgrade with energy consumption reduction as well.

Get 1 extra energy cell and energy recharge.

Max out the inventory( allows you to carry lots of weapons) , Get the strength upgrade.

Get the typhoon as well, for robots and you can do cute things if you know how to make the guards stack, invisible+typhoon = 7 guards down.

If you do all the side missions you should be able to pick up the Lung upgrade as well, getting trough the gas makes it easier on some missions( get this one early though).
Never Regret anything because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.

I would say the first points should go to: being able to hack lvl 2 or 3, punch walls, jump, the social skill and carry heavy objects. Basically, everything that allow you to explore all areas and then get a shit ton of exp to spend on other stuff.

I never got it, couldn't justify putting the points in especially if I was just getting it for Boss fights =/. Boss fights were super easy once I figured out the tricks.

+ Show Spoiler +
For the first boss you can just kill him with barrels and maybe a frag nade/mine to finish him off. The second I just put a frag mine down and tasered her to death after she got stunned. For the third I tossed like 5 frag mines from behind a wall and he died. Boss being stunned by taser/mines makes them a cakewalk if you have the stun gun/nades on hand.

I didn't get Typhoon either, didn't want to waste points on something I would only use on bosses.

I chose to rather carry grenades and heavy weapons with me to deal with them.

Personally I'd recommend on getting hacking, social, ability to lift heavy objects and maybe ability to punch through walls asap if you're going stealth mode. Longer sprint and no fall damage make moving around less effortless so I picked up those once I had spare points. Also more inventory space is a must to have really.

I only got stealth/cloak whatever near the end, it's cute but not actually even necessary for stealth gameplay, at least not till near end.

My question is: where the fuck are vendors. I found two limb clinics the whole game+ Show Spoiler +
one in hengsha and one in detroit
. is that all? I ended up only buy 3 out of the 4 praxis kits there because i couldn't get enough money to buy the last one before i left that zone.

and where are gun vendors? i only found one in + Show Spoiler +
hengsha
. apart from that i was left to just finding stuff(still found alot of weapon kits and stuff). feel like i missed some stuff D:

Theres a limb clinic in + Show Spoiler +
panchea
as well. Theres 2 vendors in detroit, one in a gas station and the other in an apartment building, and one in the heng sha. Theres also one at the FEMA warehouse and ive heard theres one in panchea but i've never found it.

theres actually two in hengsha, one in the hung hua hotel and one in the sewers but you can only get at the sewers one in your second visit

so apperently if you choose the "wrong" augs or you dont have emp nades to take out robots you get stuck.

This happend to me just now. I cant for the life of me hack these lvl 3 panels because i only have lvl 2 stealth hack and no nukes and i'm surrounded by guards everywhere.

Try to rush past all the guards and robots but still get mowed down eventually

Boss fights were never really an issue in my case. The only time I died was vs namir because I didn't want to waste my grenade launcher ammo.

Fun game, Panchea is the easiest level aswell. Pretty anticlimatic for a final level. EMP grenades, grenade launcher, typhoon, invis and high hacking is pretty OP.

Social enhancer is waste of points imo. As it's most of the time pretty obvious what you should say when trying to persuade people. It's a pretty good game but honestly most of the time I was thinking how much deus ex 1 > 3 >>>>> 2.

Oh yeah and Icarus Landing is a must have.
