I'm pretty sure I worded that wrong.
But to be honest, it doesnt even feel like a console port as I said before. Any game that forces me to use my function keys because it uses so much crap is not exactly a console port in my books. The only indication of it being a console port is the tutorials, and those are bugged out because they are showing dialogue from later in the game in them for some reason. So I don't know what's going on with those.
The game looks great, having played the first one a few times over I'd say its sufficient to quench my desires for more deus ex. A worthy thing to note is that the game looks really long, which is always nice.

I recommend trying it out.
Watching videos is not the same as playing this.
Not the entire thing of course, just like the first mission or something to get a hang of it and make an opinion.

I beat the preview in 10-12ish hours.
They say that's just a third of the game, and the real game when you do everything will be 40ish hours and if you breeze through it 25ish hours.

I mean Deus Ex was not Oblivion or Operation Flashpoint but the first level was fairly large.and open. Same for NY, HK or Paris.
Yes, that is a major complaining point at first. The first level is extremely linear and it ruffled my jimmies, but after the first mission it opens up A LOT. I mean, A LOT. I won't ruin anything if you don't want it to be, but you basically go into the city and have tons of shit to do other than running through a building.
I know exactly what you mean with that first mission + prologue, but it does get better.

I haven't played too far past the prologue but you do get access to downtown Detroit which is reasonably big.
is there a place anywhere i can sell my weapons? i want to play through the whole game without killing and i might as well see if i can get some extra money selling off my pistol/sniper rifle/shotgn.

Once you go into the city, in the old apartments there will be some guys with guns near the front. In the building behind them there will be a gangster guy, he buys and sells guns + ammunition

I was playing on Deus Ex difficulty, and I NEVER used takedowns. Not because I was gimping myself but because of how utterly useless they were. It wasted an energy bar that would not regen unless I had something to regen it with and it took out one enemy that would be easier to take out otherwise. I think I used it like once to take out some guy who was about to give me away some time. So I don't quite know that feel.
Preordered now after playing the leaked beta. I absolutely loved it. It had the same feel to it then the first one and the gameplay was fun to boot. The takedowns are balanced imo for their high energy cost. I'm kinda sad for all the console port QQ, because there are some things in the game that have been directly to make it fit better to PC. Console port isn't a bad thing if it has been done well you know.
Guys a question, I'm having trouble throwing with the strength aug. Eg. i pick up a turret but can't throw. I bound the throw in the control menu in options to Q but when I press it, it does nothing. Can anyone help me with this?
So after playing the game (first few hours not the entire preview) these are my impressions:
The presentation is great. The cinematics are pretty amazing. So far very much like Deus Ex, and I like the cover system works better than I thought, though the controls takes some time getting used to.
One thing I don't like:
A lot of stuff can not be interacted with. I dont' mind not eating every food i see, or doing using the items but at least I expect to move the objects around. But so far everything is like solid lead, won't budge an inch even when they are shot and explosions go off. HalfLife 2 had pretty interactive items. Things being destroyed or flung around. I only wish this game incorporated those elements. One of my favourite things to do in a game is pile up a whole bunch of stuff in a corner and see everything fly in all directions when an explosion go off. Good memories with Oblivion.
After seeing a lot of complaints about the graphics i honestly don't think they are that bad at all. There are mouth sync issues but it's not any worse graphics wise than SC2 (which i still think loots great btw)
The gameplay however is really fun, stealth elements can be frustrating when the level design is poor in some areas but after playing for a few hours i've pre-ordered the game. Hopefully they will fix some of the poor level design (for example, if you pick you prefer stealth, your given a tranquillizer rifle and are encouraged to actually not kill or engage with anybody, due to the strict takedowns and the fact that shooting somebody is so dangerous, but there are certain areas where you simply cannot avoid engagements with enemies, which means you lose your stealth xp bonus too and you end up behind xp wise because of it) and there is some (not major) bugs here and there which is to be expected with the current state of the game.
Honestly though, i really don't see the big deal with the graphics, only the lip sync bothered me.
Mhm, and I have to play on low, at 800x600 due to my HD2400 which barely fits the requirements E3 in two days, we'll get the rest of the facebook unlocks then
