And if you're stressing out about graphics when the last one looked like the above picture when the game is as good as it is, go look at some really awesome graphics called outside if that's what you're into.

However, the general areas, especially the large modeled version of future-detroit looks fucking awesome, lightning is also cool as well. I'll look forward to playing more of it (and yes i will buy it once its released) but from what i can tell its much more like Deus Ex 1 then Deus ex 2.

It's pretty easy to knock-down straw men, isn't it? I asked you if you really thought the graphics looked great, based on the screenshots that were posted a page or two back. If you think they do, that's fine - I don't.

Other than that, it runs smoothly. I get crashes every here and there (5 hours in and had two crashes so far) and a little framerate drops when things get messy, but it's not Obsidian-tier or something.

I find that there are a lot of "classics" that felt better at the time they were released than games that are technically better but feel average by don't feel special for the times. To me the best example I have of this is when I compare Fallout 2 to Fallout 3. I find both to be great games, but I prefer 2, even if I can't point my finger on what I felt was better and that 3 is just about bigger and better in every way but never captured that same feeling Objectively a lot of games are better than DX1, but very very few will ever capture how the game felt when it came out. If you still enjoy them today more than most titles, I think that's mostly nostalgia, at least that's how I see DX1 when I compare it to other games.

Thx for the answer fruscainte. Well objectively in the sense that if I were to give a game to someone who hasn't played either game or if you tried to quantify with various factors like Graphics, Sound and Gameplay. When you compare fairly old game to more modern generation you'll have a realllllly hard time explaining why you think the older one is better unless they're obvious flaws in the newer one. Fallout 1-2 to 3 is the best example to me of games that feel that way, and I get the feeling the DX 1 and DX3 are going to have similar things going for both of them. The same "genre" there are a lot of games. However it depends on how narrow you set the genre. So I'll just leave it at that for now. I'm just guessing you hold DX1 in very high esteem, and if your hoping for them to come up with something as good or better, you'll likely feel like the guy who has read the books before going to a movie adaptation to whom the book will always be better. ;P Myself, I wasn't a fan of the whole first person RPG at the time. So when I did end up playing it, it didn't quite have the same effect on me.

I got to say, it's really good. It's not great, it's not astounding. But it's pretty damn good. I built stealth all the way around, and that last boss fight was kind of annoying but I just found out you just throw all your det packs at his feet and blow it all up at once and just insta win so it's no biggie. I really like how there are just a bunch of ways to approach the simplest parts. I mean, just running by some enemies pissed me off because there was a vent I could have just crawled through. or hacking a computer and finding out about a keycode on one of the guards. You could do every part of the game in any way you wanted to, and it was fucking pro. Definitely lived up to the hype from what I can see. I just hope when the real game comes out I can import this save so I dont have to play the first 10 hours again.

The Graphics are the same since 2006, everyone complaining about games not using the pc at its full potential are retarded, its this way since release of ps3/xbox360. the game with the overall best graphics is crysis (2006). all game-graphics are made to run on consoles, so there will be no new graphic-monsters, if the game is released on consoles and thats exactly why people complain. also doing a better pc version is always an option either by tuning up their gfx or making it for pc and then tune it down for consoles. imagine if cross platform games would be made for wii level of graphics. im sure all the xbox and ps3 owners would be super angry as well when they get shitty visuals cause of a lesser performing platform. im eager to read alpha expiriences. wont do it myself since i wanna spoil it but i def like to read some first impressions ~

You don't think it's this simple, do you? They take alot of things into account, and the main selling point for not making games of greater graphics is DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN... Money. It's cheaper to make a less pretty looking game.
