Do i adadada? shoot faster? prefire? If this is right at the beginning of the round, I'd try to prefire the corner. If that doesn't work, don't be holding that angle, maybe ADAD to peek it, if you see him, throw a flash over the top of the corner, and then peek when it pops to catch him blind. If you're not confident in your shot, you can quickly try to throw nades into the doors as you get there, but not peek the angle. That way, he peeks, and just sees a nade flying towards him and takes ~20-40 dmg. Unfortunately, it's also dependent on spawn positions. If he got lucky and got the fast spawn a few rounds in a row, and you didn't, he should be able to get there before you can. Unless you get the closest spawn yourself, but you'll only beat him by about a split second. Hope that helps.

But don't stay in the same angle all the time. Always gotta find new angles to play. Long A is incredibly difficult to hold by yourself. If you wanna hold corner by yourself, always easier to just AWP.

what i dont like with settling onsite (A) in the beginning is that i have a hard time covering myself. it's either i expose my self from long or cat. if i have a teammate covering A doors then covering cat would be pretty easy

If you're holding an area alone you can never just sit in the same position, that makes you such an easy target for terrorists. If you're in pit you can retreat back into pit, throw some flashes and peek back out. At barrel/blue bin you're just hoping to catch people off-guard and kill at least two. When I'm holding Long A by myself with a rifle I usually smoke off double doors from elevator and then pick whatever position I want. Learning that smoke might help you a lot. Otherwise if you really wanna hold corner, either learn how to quick peek and snipe heads or AWP imo.

It's definitely one of the more common angles, and he can come out of those doors pre-aimed for it, and he can see you and just immediately fire, because his crosshairs are already placed. Like souma said, if you want to hold that angle, you'd have to be ADAD peek it. Other positions that I like to play for long A would be in pit, either watching them come out, or wait til they jump into pit before killing them. Or close by the Long A doors, across from the blue dumpster, and wait for them to come out. Unfortunately, those are, kill and then get killed positions. So ideally, you'd trade yourself for 1-2 of them, ideally 2+. You can also play 2 long, you'd play the Long A corner and have a team mate play either pit, or across blue dumpster. It sets up a crossfire for T's that are forced to come out of only 1 choke point, and you're shooting them from two different angles.

Only reason you don't have 2 long is when you're doing short boost, then you'll probably be playing 2 aggro cat, then 1 site. Solo long is frankly suicide unless you're an awper, then you take the first shot and fall back immediately. You don't have to survive, you just have to either delay them long enough or try to kill at least 2. This applies to every position you will ever defend in every map. Good advice here, to switch up your spot every round if possible. In terms of surviving, especially on CT side. If you trade 1-1 on CT, it's a loss for your team. If you do 2-1, then that's good. Anything below 1-1 is terrible. Try having this mentality next time you're solo B on say Ferno. For example you are tribox. Your aim isn't to do damage, rather it's to not take damage and to delay as long as possible. The longer you take to die, the more time your team has to rotate. And hopefully you can trade at least 1-1, if not 2-1. Another example is B again, on Ferno. This time you're playing coils. You take a few shots, fall back (since you are solo). The goal here now, is to keep control of garden/con. That way, your team doesn't have to retake garden. In effect, you sandwich the T's in B, forcing them to generally push banana as they have no other options unless they challenge you at garden.

Ive been thinking if crouching wouldve made a difference but ive been told to never crouch in lower levels. i didnt assume he was cheating though, jsut that he was really good. confirmed at the end of the game he was 3 ranks above me. Really? People say don't crouch? I'm real fucking awful, but people at my level crouch reasonably frequently and have literally ducked my shots more than once. I also don't tend to crouch ever, but don't consider it a credit, as I'll see pros crouch as they spray. I assume they're doing it conditionally but still... As for holding long A solo (again, I'm fucking awful) just smoking off doors and popping a shot at anyone rushing through, then falling back to car works for me. You get a chance at a kill when/if they breach, and get intel for your team to rotate if you see more than one.
