Why can the AI form alliances while at war and get immediate help from them, but I can't? I understand the AI needs to cheat against a human player, that's why they get their bonuses, but this is just ridiculous. France made 3 new alliances and all of them came to help, gg.

According to the Wiki:

AI does not get naval attrition. It does avoid going too far out of range with most of its naval operations though, to somewhat simulate it.
AI can see through fog of war, but pretends it can't in most cases.
AI gets +1 diplomat that it reserves for non-maintained actions because the diplomatic AI 'ticks' means that it can't do the recall-send strategy that players do with maintained diplomats.
AI gets +1 free leader pool because it's not nearly as good as a human at planning out when it will need leaders and needs to keep them on hand always.
AI does not pay hiring costs for advisors, only maintenance, because their hiring code isn't that good and otherwise they waste a lot of money.
AI can reassign admirals to a fleet that is at sea.
AI gets slightly fewer revolts in its home owner area (the provinces connected to its capital).
AI gets less native uprisings, because it is less than optimal at keeping its colonies garrisoned.


This is in addition to Lucky bonuses for some nations.

One change that is not listed in patch notes is that now each elector that is a subject of someone reduces IA by 0,10 a month. Fuck this, -0,30 IA a month......I am not gonna free them. No way Paradox, they earned this by oposing me. I am gonna hang the heads of those elctors on my wall and gladly take stability hit for this.

The game is also much slower for me. Dunno if its becase its converted save or will stay that way. Also it just crushed on me. Great.

"does avoid going too far out of range with most of its naval operations" ... yeah, Ming is right next door to the HRE, it's totally not too far out of range for all those OPM vassals to start a naval invasion of China... Or for Inca AI to land in France with it's 1 boat...

AI also gets a large bonus to colonial range.

Playing as Austria right now and it's 1455. Somehow I end up leading a PU over Hungary. Is that an event because all I've done so far against them is to set them as a rival and fabricate some claims on them.

austria gets missions and events to Pu hungary yes. though I have not seen it that early yet.


I started a new game as Castille and with the changes to the trade nodes, meaning no more western europe node, sevilla gets filthy rich from the colonies. I control most of the carribbean, parts of Brasil and conquered the mexican indians and now sevillia is pumping out 80 or more ducats each month for me. and that's only 50% the other 50% is taken by Portugal

There is a historical event for that. You have 3 choices I think if you play Hungary, Usually the AI does not pick the one, where it ends up under PU of Austria though :D

There is a historical event for that. You have 3 choices I think if you play Hungary, Usually the AI does not pick the one, where it ends up under PU of Austria though :D

But if I try to form a new alliance in a war, I get the -6000 is at war modifier, so nobody will accept the offer. The AI however doesn't seem to be restricted in that way.

Does anyone know the way to decrease system lag in EUIV? Like me game lately is very slow. Especially after the update. Does refresh rate (video setting in game) affect it in any way?

i have never seen that happening... maybe it's a bug?
are you sure that france made new ALLIES during that war or were you just the victim of a coalition and you didn't notice when declaring war?
