I really want to play MWO, as I'm a huge fan of the previous Mechwarrior games, but at the moment the latency problem is really ruining it for me ![]()

Do you guys have recommendations for builds and mechs that specifically work with high lat? I've mostly been playing with LRM boat Catapults, but from what I hear ballistic weapons have a lag-effect reducing mechanic that they put in for people like me. For my 130 ms it work perfectly, but I cant tell you if it also works for such severe latency. You should know hat best I guess. The best mechs to play with high latency are obviously LRM boats. They have also just been buffed by increasing LRM damage.

![]() Also Mech Commander had a medium - long range laser type thing that was blue-white and had infinite ammo - any idea what it was called? That shit ruled.

Downloading it now since i played Mech Commander way back and that game was freaking awesome, totally underrated game and Microsoft botched the sequel tremendously so they just axed it's development afaik since it looked laughably bad ![]() Unfortunately yes. Snipers (with multiple PPCs and gauss) have become fotm. Jump sniping has fortunately been nerfed yesterday, by making the cross hair tremble when jumping. The blue/white thing is probably the PPC, which is now dreaded by many players.

I laid into an atlas face to face, it died after like 20 seconds and i got nothing on the scoreboard? Also i cant fit a double heatsink into a jenning? When you lock an enemy with "R" that gets your teammates to be able to lock him too even if they have no visual to it. if for example a LRM boat lands damage locking a target you spotted , you get points from that. I can be getting it a little wrong , im into this since 3 days maybe some Vets can clarify further.

Usually the next is either a larger engine or EndoSteel internal structure. Ferro Fibrous armor is the worst upgrade so only get it if you are absolutley sure. Use this online tool to plan your upgrades/purchases before doing them in game http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab If you see me on Team Speak or in game (my screen name is Aym in every game) feel free to ask me any questions. Right now running a centurion CN9-A with the biggest engine I could buy. 1 Large Laser 1 Ultra AC5 2 streak SRM XL Engine 275 - top speed 88.9kph Standard Armor Endo Steel Structure Currently enjoying the high mobility you still have with this medium mech and the AC hits hard enough to threaten to chop off a limb. You cant keep the stare of an Atlas too much but are a valuable asset keeping the flanks of your own assault mechs assisting them with firepower Im considering starting to pour money into MCs and get some mechs and maybe buy a joystick only for this game if its worth it.... any experience with this guys? Don't do the straight joystick, the mouse is infinitely better for aiming. That being said, something like the Logitech G-13 gamepad is amazing for the throttle/turning. You have all the buttons in the world and 4 fingers to use them, with the thumb more than capable of doing the throttle and turning on the thumbstick instead of WASD.

I'm trying to fit a double heatsink into my jenning, i did so, now i need another one apparantly and i have no idea how to add one. Also i bought one for 1,5mil and in another list there are double heatsinks for 44k, what? the 1.5 million C-bills Double Heat Sink was to upgrade your Mech to be able to carry them. Now that your mech can use them, they're like 44,000 cbills each or whatever, it's really cheap once you start playing the game.

The game severely lacks in the tooltip department tbh.

However the User Interface is due for a MAJOR over haul including a brand new tutorial this summer before the game officially launches. However, the "Open Beta" of the current game will not be reset in any way when the game officially launches.

my God it hits hard , if I do shot both AC2 and PPCs at the same time most of the time an arm goes flying , and if not you can mindlessly rain down the dual AC2 on the poor guy afterwards. The maneuverability is hell and if some med or light comes and starts strafing its hard to aim here. I miss my centurion's arms but you cant have it all. this will be a fun mech for farming with its 30% cbill boost and raining down hell from the distance. I still have around 7k that will save for picking some sales , hope some kind of catapult gets on sale soon :D

Where to start and the currency system? playing you earn Cbills and with them you can purchase every weapon and all the normal mechs in the game... some cost quite a lot but you can earn them playing... in the first games you get some kind of cbill boost that lets you buy your first mech and equipment sooner. MCs are the "paying" credits , you can get the normal stuff with them also (avoids the grind) you can buy colors and patterns to paint your mech with and also some special versions of Mechs called "Hero" Mechs which have bonuses to your earnings of cbills or XP , they are special versions of normal mechs with custom skins and different distribution of weapons. I started playing trial mechs until i had like 6million Cbills and then i bought and equipped my first mech ; a medium mech:Centurion... went well for me , today bought the firebrand Hero and I can say the 30% cbill boost will be nice to have to get moar mechs sooner! I advise to check the trial mechs and see whats up your preference , I'd advise against going lighter mechs if youre a novice in mechwarrior like me... probably Heavy its the easy place to start and you wont feel as slow as you are with an Atlas and still rape face with "dem big weaponz". Check the "Hardpoints" on a mech when you buy it as it limits the weapons you want to mount... if you want to make a long range missile boat pick a mech with many Missile hardpoints... if you want to build a Laser close range brawler check for the Energy... this is more important than the weapons the mech has currently as you can (and will) change them a lot. And some more will go to converting XP to GXP when they have another half-price weekend on the XP conversion. Oh, and if you play a fair amount premium time is a better way to get more mechs/gear than buying them with MC.

Well fast light mechs are much easier to hit, Streak SRM's are less powerful, and use this tool to plan out mech builds and purchases before you do it in-game http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab Also using team speak to play with others, friends or whatever, is SO much better than playing alone.
