This is what came from that reboot? What about harmony gold's cease and desist order that pulled down that trailer a few months after release because of the lawsuit mechs?
Wait free to play... What the devil, I don't think I'll be able to remain optimistic about this at all. :|

If you go to the forums, a developer states that Harmony Gold had almost zero to do with what happened to the development. They worked out the issue with Harmony Gold within a few days by altering the look of a few BattleMech's very slightly.
The reason why the game turned into a PC exclusive and F2P online is because of Microsoft and not being able to publish a Single-Player game on PS3 and Wii in addition to the PC and Xbox. Read some of the interviews it will bring light to the issue.
At first I was skeptical of the F2P persistent online universe model, but after reading up on it I'm stoked.

Read the F2P article. Sounds like they are avoiding Play-To-Win like the plague. Only time will tell, however.

We assumed since S&T had the old FASA guys on board that they wouldn't show those mechs unless they actually expected to be able to use them since they were well versed in the legal implications involved. What a huge disappointment to hear that they caved in to harmony gold again.

I don't think we know how much they tweaked the Mech's yet. However, based on current concept artwork on their site their Mech's look really good IMO. Seems like they are catering quite a bit to the hardcore Mech crowd.
Lol. Yeah my name was taken too, which is why I wanted to emphasize that point in the OP. They had like 20k members reserve their name within the first day or two
So glad someone posted this. I was still playing modded mechwarrior 4 in league format up until about two years ago. I loved that game like most people here love Brood War.
With that perspective in mind, I'm surprisingly optimistic about MWO.
I used to play mechwarrior when I was a kid. They were the first actual decent video games I ever picked up and I never really forgot them. If this game is good, I would be more sold than a superbowl ticket on black friday.
