MW is easily one of my most favourite series of all time, can't wait to be able to play this. Think I might have to play through MW4 once again in preparation. You should be careful...despite it being the mechwarrior thread, for a second I thought you meant to say the Modern Warfare series was one of your most favorite series of all time... >_> Lol. No one who has played a Mech game will ever make that mistake.
Indeed, if some 16 summers old boy doesn't know what MW is, it's his loss.
I really hope they will do f2p model very well since lately I'd rather just buy some games than have to deal with the f2p model.

i can already hear the "clans op, gaus op whining"....

This is my most anticipated game right now. I'll be playing this when it comes out nonstop, I'd definitely enjoy having a TL clan in-game :D

Anyone else get the Email about the packages you can buy for early access to the game? I had totally forgotten about this game until I received that email.

Yup. Then the site crashed. Its struggling to come back up right now lol.
I don't think I'm going to spring for the Legendary pack though.

I'll have to read more into it after I'm off work, little hard to read it all on my phone lol. Though I don't know that I need anymore games lol.

Anyone here going to buy any of the founder's packages? I am seriously considering it.
Also, with the packages up for sale, does that mean the game is going to be downloadable soon?

Open beta starts august 7th.
I'm considering elite package. Legendary is too expensive, and Veteran just isn't worth it. The issue is that I promised myself I'd stop buying $60 games... I'm just nervous about buying it before testing.

If you promised yourself you'd stop spending 60, buy the 30 to support them. I don't know why you think it isn't worth it, though. It's exactly half of what the elite is minus a "special" mech, fairly so given the price but they've said it's not pay to win, so I really don't think the 30 is a bad deal and that's what I plan to do.

I've been following this pretty religiously. I'm optimistic, but I have plenty of concerns still to be addressed.
The elite is definitely the bang-for-buck pricepoint at the moment. Legendary is really there for the diehard crazy fans who would probably throw $500 at it if they were asked. Veteran versus elite all depends on whether the founders' 'mechs are crap or not. Personally I think the XP boost they provide will be worth it.
Frankly, if you think there's a good chance of you ever spending money on the game, I'd buy at least one of the founders' packs. They come with more than their cost in in-game currency anyway, so if you were going to spend $30 later you may as well spend it now and get $40 value plus the founder perks.

EDIT: Actually, I'm wrong. Founders are guaranteed entry by 7th August, with a pretty reasonable chance of being invited in before then. Open beta will happen at some point towards the end of August.

Most start this way but you can never be sure about the future. A clear direct announced like: No microtransition we ever sell will get you an ingame competition advantage. like "Path of Exile" did would be nice.
Than they are committed and know they get alot of shit on the day they try to break it. This will get you much more players at the start, because many a scared that they play for a month build up a char only to see that you can buy all this now.
EDIT: i really enjoyed the singleplayer in the old mechwarriers. Hoped for a sp game come out one day again. Perhaps they have CO-OP modus. that would be awesome.
PC Gamer article: Show nested quote +Ekman also promises that while players will be able to buy items with real money, nobody can buy anything that will confer a tactical advantage. “Anything that would affect or give you a tactical advantage, you can’t purchase with real cash. You have to earn that by playing the game,” he says. pretty much word for word. Looks like they sell ingame currency boosters, experience booster and special macs for real cash now.
Im out.

We'd fit right in as a regiment of the Eridani Light Horse.

Actually eSport organizations are now called "Clans" and not "Teams" or "Clubs" because of some Kali Mechwarrior players in the 90s

Alright I'm caving in.
Back in the day (MW4 scene) I was top 5 cougar pilot. No cougars for at least a year, and I hate the jenner... So I guess I'll start with the hunchie!
