I find it funny reading other website comments because it is such a polarized debate on if 25 was too much or the right amount. Obviously he won't be able to make all hockey fans happy when he decides something and I understand that but this call is fucking dumb.

Like other NHL'ers stated, a few years ago that hit would have been applauded but now he is a villain. If he is trying to change the mindset of the NHL, he is clearly trying to send a message by punishing a non-star player. Its the fact that some of his decisions (Torres) seem to be overly harsh, and others (Webber) to be not harsh enough. Yes, there's this star thing. But still, there is a lack of consistency to his decision. Furthermore, I feel right now Torres is made an example of to rein in this year's playoffs.

-_- Instead of posting my thoughts about the suspensions I'll post something else. IN OTHER NEWS, the Leafs have hired Barbara Underhill as a skating consultant. Remember her? She helped teach Brian Boyle how to skate. Cue the media circus. On April 21 2012 16:13 Taku wrote: A final four of LAK, PHX, STL, NSH woooooooo so exciting. Record number of 0-1 games incoming. Do any of the teams have any semblence of rivalry that I'm missing out on? If VAN goes down I'm rooting for Ottawa, and maybe the flyers just becase After that not much else to cheer for imo.Heh, by that time the Sens might be out. I think they'll be lucky to get passed the Rangers (even though they're outplaying them). Lundqvist is doing what he usually does though and if the Rangers keep playing and stop holding back. I don't know. I sort of expected this one to go seven games though! ;P

He deserves it and I support it 100%. Now, Shanahan's consistency is a different issue all together. That dude is all over the place. There's no way for ANYONE to predict what's going to happen because he's just so off of the fucking wall. I personally believe that the NHL execs need to review the process he is using and make it more consistent and stable.

<3 Shanny. Also, amazingly well explained reasoning behind the decision.

The precedent had already been sent. And then, on top of coming out and saying something like, "I need to change and re-evaluate the way I play the game.", he says I have to do this shit to stay in the league. He deserves it and I support it 100%. Now, Shanahan's consistency is a different issue all together. That dude is all over the place. I personally believe that the NHL execs need to review the process he is using and make it more consistent and stable. Was going to post exactly the same thing. Glad to see Torres gone, hopefully he is done in this league. But no, it doesnt mean that Shanahan getting this one right excuses letting the stars of the hook. The double standards are just staggering and I guess Shanahan is waiting for Neal or Webber to actually kill a person before he stops being the butt boy of the owners and step up. Somewhat related to this note, what do you guys think about removing the refs of the ice completely [but leaving the linesmen there to break up brawls] and putting them all up in the camera room? I am getting tired of refs missing blatant calls and some of them have been series affecting. Now 30 years ago camera technology was too backwards to do this but today, why not light up the whole rink with tiny cameras all over the place, including a couple inside the crossbar looking straight down and a couple inside the goalposts looking at each other too. This way no one can jawbone the refs into giving make up calls but there might be less need of making makeup calls anyway since instead of just relying on 4 pairs of eyes and 'gut feelings' youll have a million cameras...and 4 pairs of eyes.

But if LA does somehow win, Nasville going to the finals like i called it. I feel like this statement somehow doesn't make sense, at first the only way Nashville doesn't go to the finals is if L.A takes out Vancouver ( which I still don't see making sense, cause L.A would play the Blues and get stomped pretty badly ), but than all of sudden it takes a turn where if somehow L.A beats Vancouver than Nashville is going to the finals????? Did you miss a word or do you not understand your own thought process?

To highlight a few: Chris Simon with 25 game suspension for (after a play) tripping Ruutu and then stomping on his ankle Marty McSorley got a 23 game suspension for swinging his stick at full force at a player's face. Bertuzzi got 20 games off for a sucker punch that ended a guy's career Best of all, Dave Brown, for a crosscheck to the face that broke a jaw, received a 15 game suspension. I'm not going to defend Torres' hit, but Shanahan is sure going a long way to try to change the game. I feel like he would have gotten maybe a one game suspension had Hossa not been injured, and I'm not sure the hit would have to be changed very much to have left Hossa conscious. What a messy situation. Hope Hossa makes a full and speedy recovery.
