Can only hope that the Penguins can keep this going. After the way they've been playing lately, anything short of the finals would be an absolute disappointment.

I wouldn't say that man. There are a few really good clubs in the hunt when it comes to the Eastern Conference.

Outside of the Rangers and the Flyers, does anyone else really have a shot? The Devils don't score enough, Ottawa just isn't deep enough.

Obviously everything changes once the playoffs start, but really, I just don't see it happening for anyone else right now. Letang is probably the Norris Trophy winner if he stays healthy all year, Malkin is running away with points total and MVP in the final week. Crosby came back and is barely missing a step + has the highest points per game since his return. Dupuis and Cooke both have career highs in goals, Staal is close to his career high.

Everything is just coming together for them right now. Outside of that heart breaker against the Flyers this past Sunday, they've just absolutely dog stomped everyone they've played recently. Nashville had a ton of good chances last night, but just couldn't capitalize.

I'm obviously a little bit biased here, but it's hard to deny the sick performance these guys have been putting on here recently.
You must have watched enough playoffs to know that one hot goalie puts an end to even the best team.
But imo the interesting thing will be how Crosby plays in the playoffs, if the refs put away their whistles and he plays the way he played pre-injury, i could see him having a career ending night in some corner.

I see no reason to belive that refs will use there whistles in the post season. They have basiclly stopped using them now.

Hollly shit. That pass. Crosssssby. Just absolutely schooled Karlsson.

@Hawk - Yeah, man. Those days of the yellow pads. The local media was calling for his head for so long. Now he's a top 5 goalie and carrying this team sometimes.

Man, Theissen isn't very good. Can't pull him now either, gotta save MAF for tomorrow. How disappointing.

What the fuck -- how lame. Sens playing with 4 guys in the D zone and one on the forecheck.

Who ever is reffing this game should ref more Oilers games. They are calling everything and evenly.

Suddenly Ovechkin has 9 goals in his last 7 games and could hit 40 goals this season. Crazy.

They've always been awful. o;

I wish the NHLPA would have gone with the new system. Probably wouldn't change much because the Leafs still suck. ;b

Nope. Damien Cox is a idiot and IDK what the star is. I base my statement off of the last 15 games I have watched. They are letting quite alot of stuff go. Hooking is all but legal it seems

Looks like Ovechkin's steroid guy finally came through. It would be pretty pretty comical if its Caps/Pens in the first round and Ovechkin actually wills the Caps to win that series. TSN/CBC would be very very sad for a very long time.

He is indeed an idiot. You should read the Toronto Star Column several days ago but it was on refing and how they tend to let things slide later on in the season or from game to game. That's what a few teams have been complaining about of late including Washington and the Leafs because they cannot utilitize their speed or get the calls they want.

Yeah but individual refs being vastly different in how they call games and late season/playoff whistle swallows have been a part of the game forever. I dunno, it really isn't news, and the better teams/coaches tend to understand that and adapt rather than just draw the ire of the refs when they shit on them in the press or scream at them on the ice.

I've never understood that in any sport, shitting on a ref in an effort to get calsl to go your way. Shit, I coach youth soccer for teenagers and that is prevelent there. One dude I've coached against for years gets all the calls against him because he is a crazy psychopath and I generally try to ask the ref politely for explanations and stuff

That's exactly what Scotty Bowman said and yes they most certainly do.

This Brian Elliott business is fucked. He's on track to smash the save percentage record, and currently has three straight shutouts. Yeah, a lot of it's because of Hitchcock, but STILL. THIS IS INSANE. HIS GAA IS 1.48!!!

Just noticed, Toronto is eliminated~ Guess it's just Ottawa and Vancouver competing to bring the cup back to Canada.

If Vancouver ends up being the last Canadian team standing, I wonder how long until the media brings out the knives again?
