Just get FF X and you can't go wrong (just don't touch part 2).

I unfortunately don't have ps2; only Xbox 360, Pc and my HTC.

I have FF3 on my iphone and its not the best FF in terms of storyline (in fact its trash), the job system and gameplay kinda makes up for it though

If you want graphics and good gameplay, i suggest FFX like the latter, its decent graphics and you can finetune it with an emulator to look excellent on your PC. FF7 is better if your not bothered on graphics.

If your looking for something for your android, the Chaos rings series by square enix is pretty awesome, the first two are quite short but the 2nd is longer (maybe 30 hours, first two 7 hours, excluding playthroughs with different characters) with good graphics, and interesting battle system and more.

Well, the game mechanics are quite dated, so you'd have to play them for their strongest part - the story. Of course, if you enjoyed JRPGs back in the mid 90s, you should be familiar with how it works.

FFX might be a good starting point if you've never touched any of the games before. I really dislike it though. It was the start of the decline of the series, really, due to linerarity, hillariously horrible character design and bad character personalities and voice acting. Number 6 (3) and 5, followed by 7 are the best ones. Nine is also good, with eight a bit behind that. Once you've played through those, I'd give X a thought.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions I'll probably start with FF7 then since it's available for PC now.

Wait wait, so its actual FF3 like the one they released for DS with the job system?

FF7 has been available for PC for ages.

If you know anything about emulators I would play the PSX version. I heard the re-launched FF7 has midi sounds lol

Square has re-released FF7 for PC. So that it actually works on modern Windows and such. The old PC version had quite a few glaring bugs. I have no experience with the new one, hopefully its better.

I just bought FF7 for pc 3 days ago and I remember why this is my favorite game. I have about 14 hours logged already and it's so fun reliving this game. After all.. it was the first game I ever played

Currently at Cosmo Canyon.. Although I think I'm at a low level for where I'm at. Everyone in my party is at ~22.. Does that seem right? I tried to Google it but didn't really see much.

Oh and I played and beat FF1 a few months ago when I got my wisdom teeth removed.. Good times with that game too. I think I am going to hook up my PS and start playing them all again..

Doesn't sound like you are too low level, first time I played the game(on pc) I was lvl 27 when I beat the game, and it was my first ff game. I was probably underleveled at the end though, because I'm always way higher when I play now. Maybe it's because I take my time with it more now. I enjoy every single second of ff7. Last time I played was a couple months ago, played for 2.5 hours, died. Hadn't saved. Booted it up again and played for 5 more hours. Didn't even care that I lost all that time(was at climbing the sector support tower), or how horrendous the graphics actually look nowadays(char arms with no elbows just look like blocky sausage link chains). Ended up getting every character to lvl 99 and was farming sources in the gelnika in that playthrough. Stopped playing for a month or two, then went back and just kicked sephiroth's ass to finish it instead of messing around more. I've probably spent more time just playing the snowboarding minigame than most people have spent on all of ff7. It's hard to say which is better between 6 and 7 since they are both excellent and so different, but I love every second of ff7.

Yeah I remember playing it through one time and beating Sephiroth at around level 59 but it was a tough battle. I think I am going to spend a few hours leveling up everyone's limits since I have only been using Cloud Barret and Yuffie. I'm pretty sure that I'm at the point where Red XIII is forced into my party so it would be good to at least get his up.

I told myself I would use Aeris this time around but... yeah. That didn't happen. Why put the time into her when she's just going to.. well you know

When I was a little nerdling in high school, I bought FFVII as soon as I could afford it and a PS1. FFVII had been out for about 3 months when I got it, but I was having an absolute blast with it. I got Aeris in my party for the typical adolescent boy team comp of Cloud, Tifa, and Aeris. I had just gone on the date with her at the Gold Saucer when the weekend was over, and I went to school the next day.

When lunchtime came around, I sat around with a couple of other nerdlings tallking about video games, and FFVII came up, so we were talking about our favorite team comps. When I said that I loved the Cloud/Tifa/Aeris comp for the balanced melee + caster + hero comp, there was one little weasel faced son of a bitch that said, "Yea, Aeris is good, but she dies halfway through."

I punched that fucker right in the mouth. I didn't speak to him for the rest of the year.

Yeah, I only use her to help level up limit breaks with that one she has that fills everyones gauge. Use their limits, then aeris refills the gauge, use them again. Kinda makes some of the early bosses way too easy if you use it though. Never even been able to learn her lvl 4 limit break for some reason.

Some people didn't understand the battle system. Some are too insecure to like a game centered on a love story. Others were just expecting something similar to FFVII.

In any case what matters is: they're wrong :p

Anyway I want to know why so few people love FF8. I mean what the hell. I love FF8. I am the center of everyones universe. Why don't more people love what I love more than anything they love.

Haven't finished it yet, but I really like it. Boss battle music is awesome. I need to start playing it again. Though first time I played I actually spent 20 hours just playing that addictive card game, then found out I could refine the cards into magic. Gave Squall 100 tornadoes on his str and was doing 5000 damage at the start of the game. It was pretty lol to take down t-rexsaurs like they were slimes. I feel like a low-lvl game would be easy to do since the monsters level with the party.

Some people didn't understand the battle system. Some are too insecure to like a game centered on a love story. Others were just expecting something similar to FFVII.

In any case what matters is: they're wrong :p

What? FFVIII's story was just dreadful. Love story be damned, the rest of the story around it was just....urk. It's not as bad as FFX-2 or anything, but it's just...not good.

Junction was a dumb system. If you didn't understand it, your characters were too weak to do anything but summon GFs and pray. If you DID understand it, your characters were so powerful that nothing was even a challenge, including all the secret bosses/GFs.

The card game was a lot of fun though. +1 for that.

Only played 7 and 8. Loved the story for both and the gameplay. Music was excellent also!
