The one that was released for DS seems to be a remake and it has a different magic/battle system -_- Fuck that I want true oldschool.

Damn, If I knew a FF thread existed here, I would've posted sooner. For the main numbers, FF4 was my first game. I've played through and finished every FF except II & XII (FF2 b/c I lost interest over time, 12 b/c well it was pretty terrible in many aspects). For the side games, definitely played Tactics (love it), Crisis Core (In terms of FF7 Compilation, CC was the only legit decent thing to come out of it, Advent Children was okay from a fan point of view but not in terms of movie standards, did not bother with DoC since storyline aside looked absolutely a pain to play), and Dissidia (both the original & duodecim, I had a pretty mean Golbez but then again he was one of the best characters in the original game)
So an overall a Top 6 for me would be 6 > Tactics > 4 > 9 > 7 > 10 > 5, then everything else in which order doesn't really matter. Looking at the poll, I'm happy that 6 is receiving a lot of love here, as well as 9 but I'm quite surprised that not a lot of people have voted 4. When I used to go around anime conventions on the East Coast, I would sometimes get into discussions with total of like hundreds other (non-rabid FF7/Cloud) fans about FF. While 7 & 10 are usually the unsurprising favorites, quite a few of the people I talked with said 4 was their fave. I just shudder to think that more people liked 13 than 4, not to say 13 was terrible since it was a definite improvement over 12.
Oh, one more thing. What ever happened to Versus XIII? Been 6 years since the announcement and E3 had zip news about the game. Give more reason for the KH fanbase to hate on Versus. Maybe Tokyo Game Show will release stuff on it, not that I'd care since Super Battle Opera will be going on.

There's also a place in FFVII where you can encounter higher level monsters after turning on a siren.

Was that in the crashed Gelnika (I think that's what the name was) plane? I remember you could turn monsters there into stat sources to power up characters.

But according to ign.com Final fantasy versus XIII is still alive http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/24/final-fantasy-versus-xiii-not-cancelled
"There's someone making a false rumour that Versus was cancelled," he said. "Haha... just a minute ago, the regular Versus meeting ended. If you saw the presentation of the city, it'd knock you off your feet - lol."- Yoichi Wada
Also they are suppose to announce something FF related in Sept. which is the rumor that FF 13-3 is coming. I was thinking versus became 13-3 lol

yeah I generally wait till g4tv.com or ign.com talk about something. Kotaku is not as good as those sites in gathering stuff.

I just finished FF6 with all my crew at 99 with Ultima. It made the ending even more of a breeze.

Is good to see that the top FF in the poll is FF7! yay!

That core team that did Chrono Trigger - Final Fantasy 6 - Final Fantasy 7 - Xenogears is in my opinion the greatest team of RPG creators in the world, they made 4 magnificent games that make everything today seem like utter ****.
I prefer FF7 to FF6, but both are top tier games in ever sense

I just bought FF 13 and 13-2. I have already beaten 13 once and sold my game to a friend but I wanna give it another go.

Indeed they were very good. I miss the teams that did Suikoden II through IV. Highly underrated RPG's...as good as Chrono Trigger and FF7 imho.
