So many things wrong with this post. You really think Pau and Odom don't care about winning? And you call Pippen someone who didn't care? Pippen just wasn't as hardcore as Jordan. And Odom/Pau clearly don't care, its obvious by their effort, demeanor, and consistent inability to play up to their talent levels. If those 2 were at Pippen competitiveness levels the Lakers would have had 65 wins + and be on their way to a second sweep (plus probably a 4-peat).
How can you set the bar at Jordan's level? If you do that then there's like no one in the NBA cares about winning.. Of course Odom & Gasol care about winning, if they didn't you wouldn't see them play at the top level, and definately not on the court when Phil Jackson is your coach.. I see LA taking game four, then losing in five. Dallas will probably cruise to the finals if Dirk plays like he's doing at the moment - he is actually impossible to guard.

They are playing as hard as they can. I don't know where you found the ability to judge a player's effort but you're wrong. They aren't being effective but they are clearly giving effort.

No one was or is as hardcore as Jordan. Jordan took it to a new level and thats why he is the greatest of all time. But to say those guys don't care or aren't playing as hard as they could is wrong. They are playing hard, they are just being beat.

If Ginobili had stayed healthy every year on the Spurs, they would have won every title from 2003 to 2008.
Technically I can justify that, but it sounds incredibly foolish and makes it sound like the Spurs are entitled to championships.
Only a few people think like this: Lebron when he joined the Heat, and the KG on the Celtics, and Lakers fans.
2004, the Lakers lost because they were by far the inferior team. People speak about motivation, but truth is, they lost badly almost every single game against the super handcheck team. 2008, the Lakers lost because they were the inferior team. Never won in Boston, lost at home once though they had a ridiculous lead in the second half, and were losing by 40 points in game 6 before they just gave up. 2011, vs the Mavs, none of the Lakers look good. Pau's not playing well, but Kobe attempted 1 free throw in game 3. Kobe can't shoot layups anymore. Even when he gets close to the rim (which he does less than Ray Allen these days), he doesn't shoot a layup, he pulls up tries to shoot a short jumpshot over everyone. And more on Pau, 5 offensive rebounds. The guy mysteriously can't shoot anymore (though the Mavs are just hitting him when he tries for a layup), but he's trying to work a lot of the boards. Since Bynum made his statistical breakthrough this season, Pau seems content to let Bynum get a lot of the defensive boards, so his rebounding numbers are down.

The Manu comment might be true, and I agree with you assessments all around, but my point is that if Pau and Odom were not historically undermotivated players the Lakers would have been better for these 4 years. Realistically both should be 20/10 guys, as in 20/10 should be their averages in the playoffs.

o.0
It's hard enough to average 20/10 for the season never mind the playoffs. Pau was a 20/10 guy to start the season but wore down. Odom isn't a 20/10 kinda player.
|
I think his point is: Odom's physical tools and skills should allow him to be a 20/10 player but that he isn't because he's undermotivated.

OKC offense is dead, think they will lose this one

Compare Odom to all the other 20/10 guys in the NBA. With a lean frame like that it's VERY hard to be 20/10.

Even if you disagree with 20/10 you can't say he shouldn't be a 15/7 type of guy. If Pau and Odom were 80% of their potential the Lakers would be leading in this series 2-1.

OKC whyyyyyyyyyyy
dammit this memphis team is a lot better than i expected.

I don't understand your argument at all. One, Odom averaged 14.4ppg and 8.7rpg this season and won 6th man of the year. In the playoffs he has averaged 12ppg and 7rpg. Sure there is a drop, but not much of one. Especially when you factor in the elevated level of defense in the playoffs. The Lakers were averaging 101.5ppg in the regular season and are scoring 94ppg in the playoffs.

Heat/celtics game is at halftime right now and the officals have been letting it get pretty physical so far. Joel Anthony is having a monster game for them. Its amazing that he continues to have such an impact each game

Rondo is really in a funk. I've said it before, but Perkins and KG were a really good screen setting duo, and they were both outstanding at defending the pick and roll. Without Perk, and with KG looking his age, Rondo has to work twice as hard on both ends of the floor.

I wish Rondo would get serious and devote all of his spare time to get a jump shot.. it's ridiculous how a star PG can be THAT bad at shooting hoops.. If Rondo had even a slightly stable jump shot, Celtics would be so much better..

HOLY SHIT! THAT DOES NOT LOOK PLEASANT!

Rondo's arm looks broken.
