Looks like Hawks will take a 1-0 lead in the series, but I'm guessing Joe Johnson won't be shooting 100% from the arc, nor D-Rose going a game without a single FT-A
No Vendiz you missed about 5 pages worth of people hyping derrick rose as the definite clear cut mvp, all-star, elite level, among other things. This was during the regular season and around the time mvp was being announced.
Reasonable people offered that Rose was playing great but not out-of-his-mind elite. Unreasonable people mentioned that the bulls would win the nba finals on the back of drose.

In the unreasonable peoples defense, i thought the Dwight was the MVP (well, Dirk was the real MVP, but a European cant win MVP, thats asinine), and he got bounced in the first round.

I am not worried at all after that game. Joe Johnson and J.Crawford were not missing shots despite good defense. This happens, nothing you can do about it. They can't keep that shit up for 4 games. I thought the Bulls played well, in a bo7 series good defense will win out in the end.
Oh and Rose will play through anything, not worried about the ankle.

Purposely ironic post or forgot that Dirk won in 07?

What? O_O;; Kobe should have gotten the MVP in 06... Nash really only should have gotten 1. Chris Paul shoulda won in 08 the year Kobe won. Etc..

"Nash had another stellar campaign, averaging 18.6 points and a career-high 11.6 assists per game while becoming the first person since Magic Johnson in 1990–91 to average 18 points and 11 assists per game during the regular season.[28] Nash received the most votes for first-team All-NBA and was joined by teammate Stoudemire; the two were the first teammates to make the first team since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal in 2003–04.[28] Nash received 129 first-place votes and 645 total points from the panel of 129 media members.[28] He narrowly missed being MVP a third consecutive time, coming in second with 44 first place votes to 83 for Dirk Nowitzki.[29] In the playoffs, the Suns eliminated the Lakers in five games, but were unable to overcome the Spurs in the Conference Semifinals, losing the series 4–2."
im to lazy to write my own piece, but heres clear evidence he was shades away from winning MVP three consecutive years, and if 11 assists and the best pure shooting isnt MVP, i dunno what is.

because KG and TD were still alive. They were more dominant than Nash during the 00s so for him to get THREE MVPs would have been insane.

Well..... Day 1 went well for me, Grizz beat Thunder and Heat beat Celtics.
But day 2? Not so much....
Hopefully the playoffs Final Four will hold some amazing teams.
Guys, if you can, I would really appreciate it if you head over to pg 12 to do the polls for this year's playoffs. TL's opinions hold great value to me. Thank you

Offense is only half the game and Nash robbed Shaq of an MVP the first year he won it. The mere suggestion that he should have three-peated suggests a deep-seated Canadian bias.

Its impossible to have Canadian bias for a sport outside of Hockey, Curling, and Skiing, I just have an appreciation for jump shooters, actually.
Next thing you know, youll claim im bias for saying Joey Votto is the best player in the NL, news flash, HE IS :D.

I agree, but he was that close, and like i said, amazing pure shooting, and pass efficiency, two key categories when gauging MVPs lately, one that you have used yourself against D-Roses efficiency/candidacy.

this game is damn boring, both teams playstyles are so zzz...

Basketball is a funny game. I don't know if it's length, refereeing or just attitude, but something is making it so that every time the ball is not being held in both hands by a Maverick the Lakers are LAUNCHING themselves at the ball.
As for the MVP discussion, to paraphrase Everett, it's a fool who looks for logic in the mind of a sportswriter.
