big names used this stunt as a source of money to be gained from lots of viewers watching this shit, when they give you the money to do it, its kinda hard to just be like nah i dont want free money.
You know there's an idea that you can say: NO!
There is no Decision without Lebron but he chose to go along with it if that was the case, which makes him even more of a jackass.

I suppose his nickname "King", his tattoo of "The Chosen One", and him taking 23 with the Cavs were none of his ideas too?

When everyone promoted the idea of calling him king james and cleveland, why wouldnt you go with it?
Tattoos are stupid in general, better then getting a serious tattoo like a fucking dragon on your back, those are way worse.
A lot of players draw inspiration from great players so i dont really see your point with the number. Showing respect to a great player.

So your dignity is worth a 100 grand? This isn't some childish dare or a prank. 100 grand a lot of money when your contract is in the tens of millions...yeah totally worth it.
Get off what high horse? I am not in Lebron's position, I am not a fucking global icon, a supposed role model, or making millions.
Edit:
This is why famous people have PR people.

That probably hurt his long term marketability if anything. If making money was LeBron's top priority then he would not have gone to Miami. Cleveland could have offered him a bigger contract and a bigger market team would have generated a lot more money as well (knicks?). Relative to LeBron's income and overall net worth, "The Decision" is equivalent to nickle and diming. LeBron could try a lot harder to find money making opportunities that would be just as lucrative and far less detrimental to his image.

The only saving grace he has had publicly is that he petitioned for 23 to be retired throughout the entire nba.
+ Show Spoiler +....After he wore it in cleveland

The Decision was ill-conceived self aggrandizement. It is quintessentially Lebron.

Who the hell cares if he's a douche? It doesn't matter if you have an arrogant tattoo. I don't really care about a player's personality or what they do off the field unless it's funny, or unless the athlete is some total motherfucker who kills dogs or something like Michael Vick.
Any real fan knows that the the only "talking" that matters is done on the field, which is pretty much shown in this thread, since everyone is bashing LeBron for being arrogant even though many other great players are huge douches as well (like Michael Jordan), just because they have championships.
I'm so sick of hearing about the Decision. It was almost a year ago, get over it. I feel like the Cleveland people have taken the wounded city thing too far, and that they should have shut up when the Cavs turtled in their first game against LeBron and the Heat in December.

I think you are mistaking the fact that LeBron talks a lot...and has no championships to his name. If you think the Decision is the start...well then you are mistaken...this was several seasons in the making. A number of writers and bloggers started to take notice of his attitude long before the Decision. Keep that in mind, and honestly the backlash wouldn't be anywhere near as bad if it was any other city BUT Cleveland...but it was.

When you talk about winning a championship like some God-given right and then promptly disappear 3 playoff series in a row, it matters on and off the court.
Edit:
There's a difference than his promise to deliver a championship to Cleveland, since that city hasn't had one in like 6 decades in any sports and have gotten destroyed in the worst ways, than to go to Miami and start saying insta-dynasty mode.

Mavs deserved, well more than the Heat.

The timing was all off, like not even close. Of course Lebron doesn't regret the Decision, when has he shown any regret over anything that's supposedly important?

That decision was actually the idea of Maverick Carter, Lebron's childhood friend and marketing manager or some shit, approached ESPN to air it. It wasn't ESPN's idea, they agreed to air it for ratings and revenue, everything else was in Lebron James camp control. Lebron even requested Jim Gray to interview him and they got him.

Charlotte Hornets - Jason Richardson Cleveland Cavaliers - Lebron James Dallas Mavericks - Trenton Hassell Denver Nuggets - Marcus Camby Indiana Pacers - Stephen Graham Los Angeles Clippers - Ruben Patterson Memphis Grizzlies - Casey Jacobsen New York Knicks - Quentin Richardson Philadephia 76ers - Louis Williams Portland Trailblazers - Darius Miles Sacramento Kings - Kevin Martin
There are 30 something teams in the nba, so that's like, 1/3 of them. Tons of people who admired Jordan wore 23 as a kid, through college, and in the nba. And Kobe switched to 24, better or worse?
I'm sure people have been gushing about Lebron's potential since he was a kid, so I'm not going to claim Lebron doesn't have a high opinion of himself.
But usually when athletes have nicknames, they're cool/impressive sounding ones like "The Human Highlight Reel", "Black Mamba", "The Matrix", "Superman", "Superman (soulja boy version)", and not ones like, "The Custodian".
And I'm not an expert at nba tattoos, but i'm sure there are some pretty self centered ones out there. "Chosen One" could be the worst, who knows, but it's kind of cherry picking.
Edit: from the web
Amare Stoudemire's
The one example of Lebron's arrogance that I don't like, because it affects the game, is what in basketball they call a "heat check". Make a difficult shot. Think you have a hot hand. Try an even harder shot. Repeat until you start throwing up absurdly stupid shots way past the 3 point line while double covered and start airballing them.
Otherwise, if anything, I think people ironically wanted Lebron to have MORE on-court self-confidence in the finals.
