2) I was talking about two mercurial big men who are the best player on the court in 95% of their games, but teams game plan for them and their teammates are continually underwhelming. Adding to this, they both have incompetent front offices and their teams go from a finals appearance to perennial pretender. Most of Hakeem's prime was wasted, so we'll see if Dwight leaves Orlando to prevent fading into obscurity.

Lakers end up losing two games to the Hornets... This feels like the series against Houston. Losing to a team that shouldn't give you any trouble.

I obviously don't actually think that for real (I had Dwight as my MVP, and I'm from Chicago) it is just that IMO if you called it be the book every trip down the floor that he touches the ball it would be a foul. Either on him or the D. So you have to draw the line in a different place for Dwight.
As to your second point, Orlando is suffering from the same disease that Cleveland was with Lebron: Trying to give him a contender right away, without draft picks (because they are too skilled of individual players to ever let their team get into the lottery). What they really should have been doing all this time is trading away players like Lewis and Turkoglu for draft picks that they really weren't worth (Like Clippers/TWolves #1 picks). Dwight + Eric Gordon is a good foundation for a championship team.
But I also would not blame him for leaving, the front office sucks there.

and was sure what was meant above?

Drawing comparisons between Dwight's game and young Hakeem's game would be folly. Everyone knows about the demise of the Rockets juggernaut and how Hakeem damn near left after the front office accused him of faking injuries. I'm not seeing much ambiguity here...the situations have so many parallels.

This weekend has been fantastic. The ghost of Brandon Roy, Chris Paul the (eventual) tragic hero, Spurs and Lakers are struggling titans and the Pacers and Sixers keeping some of their dignity. The NBA playoffs are way too long but if they're like this, it's all worth it.

Dignity? IIRC, the Pacers have led all four games at halftime, and have had leads in the fourth quarter of every game. They are keeping pace (no pun intended) with the Bulls. It's not like they got blown out for three games like the Sixers.

chris paul good lord l0l. this the the person the heat should have waited to obtain, not shitty bosh. The speed of D-wade, lebron, and CP would be too much for any team to handle.

The match up of Paul and Jack has been fantastic, the hybrid pg/sg mixture is hard for the Lakers to handle without severely over exerting themselves, and two of them is making up for the size on the inside, if they are making shots. Hope the next three games are as tight as these ones, and look they should be a 2-1 either way.

i also was caught off guard by the amount of good games in the first round. i actually was hoping there would be no sweeps because so many of these games have been legitimately good match-ups, even the 1v8s and 2v7s. and i'm usually hoping for no 1st round upsets and no full length series until the conference finals, but this year has been so impressive.

The Sixers got blown out once. They were right there with a chance to win in 3 out of the 4 games so far.

The MAVs will be fine in this series. Roy had a fantastic QUARTER, but that is about it. He is a great guy & I wish him the best but I am not sold on the idea he can do it on a regular basis or be a starter with 30+ minutes per game. Just as the MAVs are not very likely to turn the ball over or miss as much as they did that quarter.
Ray Allen had a terrific series against the Knicks, excited to see how they match up against MIA, who can defend both him and Pierce pretty well.

New Orleans is putting up a heck of a fight but in the end it won't matter... They've interestingly turned it into a bo3 though, but my bet is that the Lakers crush them the next 2 in a row.

Ya I agree, Lakers should handle business next 2 games...it could have been different if Gasol had caught a pass at the end but Lakers are woken up now I think.

This year has confirmed my opinion of Paul Pierce as highly overrated. I don't even hear the announcers talk about him.

So what is the word on Kobe's ankle? Seems like he had a worse injury than a rolled ankle. However, I think he would need to lose his foot before he stops playing in this series. Isn't he supposed to be on CP3 on D? That certainly can't be good considering CP3 is playing out of his mind already.

The announcers still love him, somehow they helped create the mythology of Paul Pierce, and they aren't about to give it up.
