What a complete waste of money. Ten minutes of 'instant death during the intro thanks to the dragon setting you on fire thing' is enough for me.
Edit: Gave it another 10 minutes and still get set on fire every single time I leave that first hut. If I stay back, I get set on fire. If I follow the NPCs, I get set on fire. I though it might have been the flaming bodies on the floor setting me on fire, but nope, avoid them and still get set on fire.
And I thought this particular dev team was supposed to be good at making games.

The Witcher 2 is awesome. The first one was a bit boring and too easy after the first half of the game, this one looks much more polished and balanced. That being said i really liked the first part but this one feels like a master piece. The one thing i don't like is the console like controls, specially annoying is the looting and the potion crafting.
I just finished the 2nd chapter and i have to say everything was so awesome, haven't played something that good for ages. Btw is there a seller of fire/ice/xxx sword enhancement rune diagrams in chapter 2? Because i know it was sold in chap one, but couldnt find anybody selling them in chap 2.

So nice with with a well made game that actually poses some challenges rather than throwing rewards and gratification at you for not doing anything like most other games these days.
Truly enjoyed The Witcher 2, it was reasonably hard, good story and wasn't over in 6 hours. Will probably play it again some day but doubt it would be as much fun now when you have the tips n tricks fresh in mind.
All in all i'd like more games where common forumusers ragequit because they didnt get the best weapon in 10 minutes or because they actually had to put some effort into killing a boss. Big props to the developers

There's a pretty big difference between challenging and broken.

Well, then care to explain what I'm missing mr. high and mighty? I'd be up for a challenge, but this is just complete nonsense.

I don't have to explain nothing to you.
And it's probably your fault. Because there is no such a bug at all.
Other than that, I can give you my save game.

What did you DO?! I wait for the dragon to stop firing and I avoid those flaming bodies on the floor. I've tried sticking with the NPCs, or going it alone, and yet every single time I ever get a fire dot that kills me, or a fire dot that brings me down to 1-hit death, which means little hope of getting past the next like, NINE guys. Its so godamned frustrating.

Just run into the left building, stay there for a while, then run to the next building, kill the mobs then stay inside the gate area. Pretty easy.

Be sure to use the Quen sign as often as possible too.

I'd REALLY appreciate that, if you could. I really want to enjoy this game like everyone else, but this intro is making me so damned mad.

Did you import a save game from Witcher 1? Or just created a new game?
Because it makes a big difference.

There a big difference between a game being broken and the person playing it just sucking.

It's a fresh game, without an import.

Dude, I'm not dense. I've been gaming since I was like 8 on everything from Space Invaders onwards. I got through Super Meat Boy for crying I loud. I can tell the difference between broken and if I'm just sucking it up. If I was losing because the mobs were kicking my ass in combat, I'd be pissed at myself for sucking.
If I'm getting set on fire 20/20 times, after trying a ton of different things, I'm going to call it broken.

If you are having trouble with the fire from the dragon you might want to consider the fact that there are places where the fire wont reach you and you might wanna be somewhat more observant.
Combat is indeed quite frustrating at times but as soon as you come to terms with the fact that you arnt superman or the hulk you'll manage.

I'm a huge (huge) RPG nerd. I've played Morrowind, NWN, and Dragon Age multiple times and love them to death. Picked up Witcher for $4 on Amazon a few months back and just cannot bring myself to play it. I think it's partially the mouse-based combat system (unique, but also a little uncomfortable) but also the tedium of the questing. Feels grindy when it should be engaging.
Am I being unfair? Should I give it a second shot?

you step under the roof and stay away from the walls, you kill the dudes, wait for the right moment, run under the next one, kill the dudes and you're done...
just did this on hard on my first attempt.... i don't really see the problem there
game is fine.

Use the quen sign and you have to time it while the dragon is going back and forth the with the flames....wait until he's already gone halfway back up and down and then run forward. I haven't been hit by it and I've replayed the prologue three times.
