ONE WEEK!! Don't they know we're gamers of the 21st century, we can't even wait a day!
But seriously that's good news, I didn't know about that.

I'm now trough with the game. Pretty awesome! The atmosphere, the production and the graphics are so great. Only bad thing is the technical problems, the performance and some bugs...
Just loved it

I have no idea why anyone would want to join the filthy Scoia'tael on their first playthrough, but I certainly see the advantages of doing so in my second.

I'm doing one playthrough on hard, making all the choices I don't want, and then I'll be playing through on insane, except with all the choices I do want. The only problem I see with insane is unexpected QTE's...
...Failing that, I'll just keep playing through on hard.

Where did you see 'next week'? Last post I read from CDP said 'shortly': http://www.gog.com/en/forum/the_witcher_2/the_witcher_2_patch_1_1/page1

Shit like that is a turn off usually for me.
So what exactly are the technical issues with this game? I'm so torn on whether I should get it or not.

this game is freaking amazing.. I wish this much effort went into all games :O

Framerate issues with ATI cards. Crossfire needs patching. Ubersampling is broken. DLC downloads aren't working properly. Game takes 40+ seconds to start-up, if it starts at all (depending on your setup). No support for 16:10 or 4:3 monitors (to be patched in), conflict between xbox360 controller and KB if trying to use simultaneously... To name a few.

I'm playing on HD5770 (far from optimal) and I have no fps issues. Just turn off ubersampling (it is NOT broken, it just requires to have best of the best current CPU+GPU!) and play with AA on. I thought I read a dev. report that said ubersampling was broken. I'll have to see if I can find it, or if my memory has failed me.

True for other ATI users? Clearly I'm ATI as well so I really want to know

Not sure UberSampling is broken It's listed as being extremely GPU intensive in the read me

It's the last time I buy a game without making sure there is a way to make the hotkeys not retarded for someone who uses the mouse with the left hand. This game is just not playable for me as it stands.
You can rebind them in the launcher...

I haven't had any framerate or start-up issues and I'm running an ATI 4890.

A lot of keys a left hander would normally want to use are not bindable which is going to be fixed with the upcoming hotfix.

how can you check how many hours youve been played?

On May 21 2011 12:09 grieverEU wrote: how can you check how many hours youve been played?
you can check it in your steam library (only if you're using it of course )
...so i'm finished with the story...
WHEN DOES WITCHTER 3 COME?!
so many questions!
|
for people who finished it, how many hours did it take you? and did you rush the game or do the side quests and etc.
|
Steam says 32hours, i'm not sure wether it still counts time while idling on the desktop while running the game at the same time, also i tried to do most of the side quests and did some retarded running around because i was too stupid for some of the quests, lol
i'd say somewhere around 24hours should be quite doable

Downsides: inventory is much worse than in w1 EE in my opinion. Having to meditate to drink potions is just bad design. I hate it when game autosaves and immediately starts fight, forcing you to either fight without potions or restart from earlier save. Autosaves are retarded. why the fuck does it save before dialogue, rather than after it >.<? Few fights were pretty much impossible for me at hard. 3 waves of 4 guards that parry every attack from front and 4 shot me in ridiculously small area where stopping to use signs means that they can hit you... like...really? Crashed quite a few times. Also started lagging at ch. 2 after few hours of playing, but don't know whether they were caused by my computer or the game. Died several times to strange bug that made all but WASD unresponsible, always fixed on it's on but was quite annoying. Liked w1 talent style more than the new one, but thats just personal preference.
Upsides, pretty much everything else. Much better than DA2 for example.

I figured stacking 20 traps and letting her run over it would work but I dont really like the idea of abusing that ^^
so if you guys can tell me how you did it I'd appreciate it
For creatures, go to character - attributes - knowledge to read about them when your knowloedge goes up. For example it tells you under Endregas (3/3 knowledge) that they take extra damage from behind and that strong style is most effective against them. So all you have to do against the Queen is dodge, wait for her to charge, and strong style her abdomen.
