One thing that annoys me greatly is that Geralt runs too fast . I wish the speed he currently runs at was "sprint" and you could only do it for a limited time while the actual running speed would be like half as fast as the current one.

Anyone got an idea how to accomplish that?

I never had to craft a weapon and the only time I crafted an armor was at the very end of the game to use it in the last two fights or something. For that I needed a handful of leather and some oil/twine, possibly some solid(robust) cloth. Alchemy-wise just pick up a little bit, you never need anything and drinking potions/making bombs/traps is so dumb in this game that I never bothered. This is on normal difficulty.

May vary for you depending on how much exploring you do. Good weapons literally do lie on the ground in some places and armorwise you should be good from Chapter 2 onwards since you will get a decent piece of armor following the main quest.

I'm playing the game with everything on max minus these three things and it runs beautifully. No lag or slowdown whatsoever. It doesn't appear to affect the aesthetic very much either, if at all.

Specs: Phenom II X6 1090T at 3.7 GHz, 8gb ram, 1 Radeon 6870.

Im running the game fine on ultra. The ony setting which makes the game unplayable for me is motion blur. Everything else is on the highest setting

alchemy and traps are dumb in this game?

do you realise that normal mode is for casual players, and casual players can't really complain about the more advanced side of the game.

20% damage potion/oil is dumb?
crazy area damage bombs that you can make for free are dumb?
stacked traps that you can lure enemies toward are dumb?

more useful and fun than hack n slash button mash with basic sword for the entire game.

I said it's making/drinking them that's pretty dumb.

I know you can walk with shift, but that makes him too slow. Doesn't have that perfect feel to it, like Gothic or Fallout 3 for example.

Personally I love crafting stuff. Maybe its cause I played wow all those years ago but I really like running around collecting stuff to improve my armor/weapons and the damage difference is actually quite large if you don't go with the weapons they provide you. What else do you spend your orens on anyways?

They're there. No sex cards though.

Random thoughts:
- Was anyone else really excited to see lures and thought that you could go fishing? I was so disappointed when I realized it was just to attract monsters.
- In TW1 I eventually went with the Scoia'tel but thought long and hard about it. For some reason in TW2 the Scoia'tel path seems the most attractive in every respect. Maybe I'm a dirty squirrel lover now.
- I was really looking forward to seeing dwarf women. Still no sign of them even in a dwarven town -_-.
- Whores be plump =/.

Quick question. How important is it to have played the first game before you play this? I've heard a lot of great things about this game but I'm not too enthusiastic about playing the first one.

Yeah, normal mode is pretty casual. You don't really get to see how necessary those components of the game are.

hahaha i ADORE gothic 1&2 but that reminded me how horrible the voice acting in those games is.

Just completed the game and I couldn't stop playing till I was done. Must say it is one of the best rpgs I ever played and it stayed true to the gameplay of witcher 1. One of the few games I have seen lately that did not get dumbed/watered down in a sequel to appeal to the masses.

How long was it and how many sidequests have you done? Thanks in advance!

To the second one, I'll give a big "what?"

In response to the first point, I felt like the choice in the first Witcher was pretty obvious for me (well, other than Geralt's narrative leading you to think there isn't a neutral path, which I would have taken). The Order preys upon latent racism. The only decent guy in the bunch is Siegfried, and I didn't particularly like him. Although maybe that's just because of his reaction to my actions. The Scoia'tel are essentially fighting for survival, and they do terrible things, but it is a bit understandable given the circumstances.

I suppose you could argue the Order is very similar to the Scoia'tel in that respect too. But meh, racism.

Did every quest I could find. Steam says 28 hours.

Also played around with crafting a lot and didn't skip any dialogues. Some of the quests were also quite tricky to figure out so I spend some time running back and forth. My point is that the game can be completed a lot quicker if you want to.
