Truly enjoyed The Witcher 2, it was reasonably hard, good story and wasn't over in 6 hours. Will probably play it again some day but doubt it would be as much fun now when you have the tips n tricks fresh in mind. All in all i'd like more games where common forumusers ragequit because they didnt get the best weapon in 10 minutes or because they actually had to put some effort into killing a boss. Big props to the developers There's a pretty big difference between challenging and broken. There a big difference between a game being broken and the person playing it just sucking. Dude, I'm not dense. I've been gaming since I was like 8 on everything from Space Invaders onwards. I got through Super Meat Boy for crying I loud. I can tell the difference between broken and if I'm just sucking it up. If I was losing because the mobs were kicking my ass in combat, I'd be pissed at myself for sucking. If I'm getting set on fire 20/20 times, after trying a ton of different things, I'm going to call it broken.
It is possible to do it without being set on fire, but in your case I recommend you use something called the "quen" sign which is a shield against damage. You can switch signs on 3 and use them on Q. The witcher 2 is really short on explaining stuff so I either recommend you read the manual or look in your ingame journal to fully use all the options avaiable to you.

Aw man can't believe the game's already over. It felt a lot shorter than I thought it'd be, but it was still great. I wish they added an extra chapter, though, of + Show Spoiler +Geralt going to Nilfgaard to find Yennefer. CAN'T WAIT FOR WITCHER 3.

this game is great so far

Witcher 2 looks sooo good. I dont have a good PC to play it T.T, wish it had console ports....

What? I've not lost any arm resting game yet, it is so easy. You just have to make very small and subtle moves with your mouse and you shouldn't have any problems at all. [/spoiler]
The bar makes some random movements though, and everytime that happens I need to move the mouse back, by which point I have basically lost. it is impossible to compensate for :\

Isn't all the DLC going to be free? It could certainly be longer but at least theres inevitable and free DLC to look forward to. Now it's just a matter of how good the DLC will be, really.

I just finished the game. And wow.

is anyone else experiencing random crashes?
|
Honestly? Too short. Many crashes from time-to-time. No great intro and outro as in TW1. To many alternations to storyline in the book. Dialog lines are even better that from TW1 though (in polish version at last, that one had good dialogs even in TW1, unlike it's english translation).
it is, however, better in almoust any other aspect than Dragon Age 2, but its not a really big deal TBH (specially dialogs in this second game is so horrible i could not stand and i just LOL'ed most of time).

Is it still possible to have sex with the girls in the game?
Just curious, I'm probably going to check this game out regardless.

Yes. Moreover, you will see no sex in underpants. You may be even shocked how far CDP came with those cutscenes, specially if you remember the infamous "sex cards" from the first game. So, as would Poles say: "there are tits, so there's a fun" ^^
But what's up with all that "s.s."? That game is not a streap poker, anyway. Why would anyone even care?

Make sure v-sync is turned off, and then hassle CDP over at the gog forums for the option of using hardware mouse.

Picked up Witcher for $4 on Amazon a few months back and just cannot bring myself to play it. I think it's partially the mouse-based combat system (unique, but also a little uncomfortable) but also the tedium of the questing. Feels grindy when it should be engaging.
Am I being unfair? Should I give it a second shot?
Well you just played the new gen of RPG's kinda so i cant really comment on that. I remember playing elder scrolls arena and stuff so if you say the witcher was grindy its kind of a joke for me.
I can just say for myself that i had great fun playing it and it didnt feel grindy at any point for me. That being said it definitely has more "boring" parts then The Witcher 2, but its also less console like. You wont enjoy it as much as TW2, but you can also use your savegames from TW1 for TW2 and you get to know the chars from TW2 beforehand so its pretty cool and i would always play TW1 before TW2

Actually, arm wrestling is pretty easy if you dont have technical issues. It's so easy that it's almost ridiculous :D
|
LoL arm wrestling, I tried it like 20 times and won like 2 of them. The planets aligned or something who knows what happened :D. Never bothered to read up on how to beat it, just spammed wasd, left and right mouse button.

Yeah, that part was pretty easy. Then he gets to the top of the tower and I always lose. I'm on hard mode by the way.

yea i dont know why people have problems with arm wrestling, maybe if you have a terrible fps which makes the mouse laggy it could be problematic. The only minigame that you actually lose from time to time is the dice thing, because it's a bit luck based.

the arm wrestling is pretty easy, only time where i really had problems was with the last guy in chapter 2 and that one dude in chapter 3, because the bar-thingie is absolutely tiny there right from the beginning

The dragon is hilariously easy as every boss in the game but Act 2 Letho. Just hit him in the head once with hard swing, roll out, repeat infinty. Took me like 3 mins to kill on hard with crap gear, my silver sword has like 30 max dmg if not less.
