Edit: Gave it another 10 minutes and still get set on fire every single time I leave that first hut. If I stay back, I get set on fire. If I follow the NPCs, I get set on fire. I though it might have been the flaming bodies on the floor setting me on fire, but nope, avoid them and still get set on fire.
And I thought this particular dev team was supposed to be good at making games. lol. i have nothing to tell you more than that. Well, then care to explain what I'm missing mr. high and mighty? I'd be up for a challenge, but this is just complete nonsense. you step under the roof and stay away from the walls, you kill the dudes, wait for the right moment, run under the next one, kill the dudes and you're done... just did this on hard on my first attempt.... i don't really see the problem there game is fine.
I'm quite far in the game but I did that part 10+ times too. I found it impossible to not get set on fire, but if you don't get hit by anything else you can survive being set on fire once.
I watched other people play through it (on youtube) and they don't get set on fire doing the exact same things I do. It's definitely bugged.

lol@Bibdy :D L2 use Quen (as many before me already stated), it does wonders.

Am I being unfair? Should I give it a second shot?
Witcher 1 has a slow start, wait until chapter 2, 3 and decide... or maybe euro rpg is not your kind of rpgs

When I eventually finished it I was very glad I did though. It's like a book that's tough to get through but you still enjoy when you're done.

I agree. It's not the most fun or exciting game ever, but i was super glad i played it.
I actually liked the feel of witcher 1 more than 2, even if it was an inferior game. It was gothic and dark, where as witcher 2 is brighter and more high fantasy. Both great in their own ways.

About act 3 + ending:
+ Show Spoiler +Is there anything to do here? I just ran straight for Phillippa in the dungeons and then pretty much ended the game, no sidequests or anything. Saw two from a notice board but thats it? Like thats the whole purpose of this entire area? And i have tons of unused crafting mats like dragonscale and whatever and my silver sword blows. It just felt random as fuck to end it where it did? And i just completed it since the entire city wants to kill me so figured i´d be able to do quests etc after the phillippa crap. I have half the map unexplored in act3 when i completed it...

It's not, if u look on the side the dragon is spewing fire at u. Run into it and u get set on fire. Theres a window where it stops, u have to run then, the NPC's run after this window so if u follow them you get set on fire and die.

I'm talking about getting set on fire when under the wooden roofs, regardless of where I'm standing
|
I am experiencing near constant crashes with sound locking up that require power cycling my computer at random points in the first part of the prologue. The lockups seem to occur only during dialogue.
System info: -Windows XP SP3 -Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 -ATI HD 4800 Series
So far, I have tried installing the latest ATI drivers, running the game in windowed mode, and toggling VSync. I did some research but wasn't able to find any useful solutions... has anyone else had experience with fixing similar issues?
This game seems amazing and I'm super jealous of y'all for getting to play it without any issues... I gotta get it working!

The dragon destroys the roof after some time, so if u wait too long it burns it all down and u die. Just ignore the first npcs and run straight to the second one when u get an opening and u should be fine.

Chapter 2 help please: + Show Spoiler +I'm doing the Siege of Vergen question and the description says to "reach vergen through the forest ravines." I've traversed what I think is everywhere, but I can't find the path to Vergen. The direct entrance through the previously fogged area is blocked by a wooden barrier. The moutainish area that with all the harpies and the two trolls also didn't lead there. Can someone draw the path over a pic of the map or something please? edit -- nvm, missed a path near the harpy area.

Just finished the game, To be honest I have a lot of games, yet I've complete very few. THIS game is one I completed. Its simply a really solid and fun RPG. The Choices are interesting, the side quests are fun. The mini games are decent. The fact that everyone is plouging everyone is hillarious.
While in the end somethings surprised me others didn't, Fun to find out what you guess right and wrong. Definately recommend. Gonna give them a few weeks/months and play through again taking different decisions and different skill tree.
One thing i recommend if u take magic is forget about how much damage and armour, Max out ur sign damage its the shizz

It had 50-58 dmg + 2 slots for Ysgith rune for additional dmg <3. The Caerme pattern you can get from the 3 gargoyle puzzle chambers.

The dragon in act 3 is so hard to kill. Nearly 1 shots me and when I hit the healthbar doesn't even move at all. Also, I can't dodge the fire. It does damage even with Quen.
|
The dragon is real easy if you stay on the far right, in front of the stairwell/behind the torch. I don't think his flame breath was even hitting me, but quen up anyway for when you run in to hack at him once or twice before running back to the safespot.

Finished it, felt like a chapter or two was missing, but overall a very good game.

What? I've not lost any arm resting game yet, it is so easy. You just have to make very small and subtle moves with your mouse and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
I took a glance at the guide that was in the box with the game and it seems like this game has two different main storylines depeding on your choices in between 1st and 2nd act (there is just xx pages about what you do when you chose a and xx pages about what you do when you chose b). This means you should play it at least twice O: And I've heard it has many endings. Wow
I'm currently in I act, totally sucked into the world of the game. It is just epic, words can't describe. I would recommend it to anyone who is hestitating.
Btw. one hint: + Show Spoiler + When you fight with endriag queens - you need to attack them from behind - you do no damage by directly engaging them. The best way is to use Yrden to stun and then go around and hit.
